I believe at some point shortly after I took this day gig I'm currently in that it seemed like my 'indiosyncracies' were not garnering much notice. Well, that may be coming to an end. A couple of things have happened that made me think, 'uh oh.....'
The most recent was one of those 'oh ha ha, don't be silly' incidents followed by a less 'haha' moment. The office admin made a comment, just in passing, one day that she thought I was a vampire by virtue of the fact that I liked to keep my office extremely cold. Like I said...'haha, don't be silly.'
But then came the kicker a few days later. My office has very large windows that look out onto an unobstructed view of the street and we're on the third floor. The side of the building we're on gets pretty much steady sun from morning to evening. It should come as no surprise that I keep the blinds tightly closed all day long! Well, in walks office admin who decides "It's such a beautiful day - you should open [here she yanks on the cord] the blinds!" There was about a split second between my shock and my barking out "Shut those RIGHT now!" I guess my reaction was severe enough that she looked at me and then started closing them quietly saying "ok....." and then mutters under her breath as she walks out "vampire...."
The other incident isn't so obvious unless someone is paying attention. I have a tendency to pick up on subtle smells and every so often blurt out when I smell something in particular. This specific instance, I walked into the kitchen and immediately said "It smells like an ice cream shop in here!" It turned out my boss was in there pouring the powder for a health shake into the blender. He just turns and looks at me and then says "You have the most sensitive sense of smell of anyone I've ever known." My response? "Oh, hahaha...."
LOL - so yeah. I guess it's just a matter of time before people start to notice other things. Oh well....makes for some amusement during the work day.
So as some know, I have a severe addiction to speed. It will probably be the thing that finally kills me.
At any rate, this past weekend, the gods of Winter finally smiled on me and brought a last minute storm that provided just enough to justify an impromptu trip. It was a fantastic time and I only ended up with one freakish bruise for which I have no explanation!
And for any who are wondering how a vampire deals with snowboarding on a mountain? Well, it's easy when these are the conditions:
Pretty awesome, no? V''''V
