Now is the eve of winter,
of Samhain
When we`ll honour the Goddess
As Darkness holds sway
The Ancestors call
from beyond the veil
And we set our feet
On a new shining trail
Praise her from sunset
into the dawn
As the Old year ends
And a new one is drawn
Voices of the dead
will answer our fears
And sing
as we dance
in the mist with our peers
Death to death
and life to life
Form to form
on the edge of the night
We call
as we move
please answer our plight
Womb to tomb
and birth to birth
Warmth of the flames
upon the hearth
We are held
in the arms
of the earth
As we welcome the night
Leading to re-birth
Oh Lady of Darkness
Come, hear our plight
Our voices, our prayers,
Our spirits, our hearts
Togather as one,
We greet the new year
Show us the way
As we greet the new day

I stare at the pigeons
and remember the crows
cawing their way through
an intensity of pain and hope
My head rests against it,
this cold fragile windowpane
glass and steel, reflecting emptiness
errant thoughts leading to damnation
The wind howls my name,
flickers of light traverse
a sphere of joyless apathy.
Why has it come to this again?
The road winds on, away from me
I simply cannot see what`s there
the nettles and the steep inclines,
the shadows drowning everything
Here I stand, against the thunder
head low, eyes adrift, lips parted,
white hands wide, palms open -
waiting... waiting... for the inevitable
