GOPQ er Rick Scott Dodges the FOX Poll on Guns

10:36 Apr 30 2023
Times Read: 266

A new Fox News poll shows massive support for stricter gun laws and enforcement in the United States, laying waste to every elected Republican official who bows down to the NRA.

Raising the legal age to buy a gun to 21 (81%)

Requiring mental health checks on gun buyers (80%)

Allowing police to take guns from those considered a danger to themselves or others (80%)

Requiring a 30-day waiting period for all gun purchases (77%)

Fox Business host Stuart Varney brought on Florida Senator Rick Scott to discuss the results

"A new Fox poll reveals a majority of voters want more restrictions on gun ownership. Only 45% think that arming more people would reduce gun violence," Varney said.

After a ham-handed introduction to Scott, Varney got down to business.

"Look, this Fox poll on guns, that's not good news for Republicans," he said. "I mean, you're staking your claim to authority on, you know, don't do anything with gun laws, you've got enough already."

Scott's response was to agree with enforcing current laws and then he refused to discuss the latest Fox News polling.

But let's also figure out how to make people safe," Scott said.

The f**king Fox poll just told Sen. Scott how to make people safer, but instead he stuck his head in the sand.

"I put a bill out this week. It's the Guardian School Act. It's to do what I did in Florida, put armed guards in all of our schools," he said.

"Do you think that would be popular, Senator?" Varney quizzically asked. "People with guns in schools, more people, more guns in schools."

Scott pushed on without answering his direct questions. Varney could have pushed Scott to directly answer his questions about the poll, but he didn't.

We already know having one armed security person in school isn't going to

We already know having one armed security person in school isn't going to make any child safer. it will give Republicans a talking point, but that's all. Keeping mass murdering assault weapons and high powered magazines out the the hands of killers would be a good start.

Congressional Democrats and the White House need to blast this poll out every chance they get.

There you go Rick scott dodges a FOX poll that indicates citizens want more gun control. This is the same Rick Scott that wants to eliminate Social Security and Medicare. Seems he is determined to kill off citizens one way or another.

Oh, and did you hear about the individual in Texas who killed 5 people with an AR 15 on Friday night after he was asked to stop shooting frpm his porch because they were trying to get their newborn to sleep. He then took the weapon and slaughtered 5 people. What I wonder is whether law enforcement had actually paid him a visit PRIOR to Friday because he had a habit of shooting from his porch.

Boebert Unhinged

21:03 Apr 29 2023
Times Read: 278

Far-right Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) drew criticism for her rallying cry to so-called patriots during an event in Texas this week.

Donald Trump-loving Boebert called for “boldness” from the audience as she listed what she — and they — should be prepared to do in the name of what she claimed was patriotism.

“I will do what’s right. I don’t care if it costs me an election,” Boebert said. “I don’t care if the school principal gets mad at me or the county commissioners get upset at me, or if the flight attendant kicks me off the plane.”

“I will do what’s right and answer the call because without righteous men and women, without patriots taking a stand for this country, our children, and our children’s children will not benefit the blessings of America,” she added.

Lauren Boebert said “our children and our children’s children will not benefit the blessing of America” unless patriots are bold enough to not care about a flight attendant kicking them off a plane. pic.twitter.com/NvS8KHIPbs

— PatriotTakes 🇺🇸 (@patriottakes) April 27, 2023

Critics on Twitter ripped the extremist lawmaker’s comments as “unhinged” and slammed her encouragement to act up during air travel as irresponsible.

Boebert’s 2024 Democratic challenger Adam Frisch, meanwhile, noted his rival was neither in her home state nor in Washington amid rising alarm over the GOP’s debt ceiling demands.

She's not in Colorado, and looks like she slipped out of DC and the debt ceiling negotiations to hang out in Texas.#WheresBoebert#AllHatNoCattlehttps://t.co/nnBDjmnoOW

— Adam Frisch for CD-3 (@AdamForColorado) April 27, 2023

Lauren Boebert screamed her head off telling her MAGA "patriots" to "take a stand" and be "bold" with flight attendants, even if it means getting kicked off a plane.

Violence seems to be OK with this fool.

GOPQ Is Attempting Minority Rule

20:40 Apr 29 2023
Times Read: 282

Last year, after the U.S. Supreme Court ended the federal right to abortion, voters in Kansas, California, Michigan, Vermont, Kentucky, and Montana used the ballot initiative process to show their support for reproductive freedom, both by defeating GOP-backed anti-abortion measures and approving constitutional amendments aimed at preserving abortion access.

Those losses for anti-abortion Republicans and their wealthy backers have led the party to ramp up its attacks on the ballot initiative process itself in several states.

As The New York Timesreported Sunday, "The biggest and most immediate fight is in Ohio, where a coalition of abortion rights groups is collecting signatures to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November that would prohibit the state from banning abortion before a fetus becomes viable outside the womb, at about 24 weeks of pregnancy."

"Organizers were confident that the measure would reach the simple majority needed for passage, given polls showing that most Ohioans—like most Americans—support legalized abortion and disapprove of overturning Roe," the newspaper continued. "But Republicans in the state legislature are advancing a ballot amendment of their own that would raise the percentage of votes required to pass future such measures to a 60% supermajority. The measure has passed the Ohio Senate and is expected to pass the House this week."

The Republican initiative—which is backed by right-wing special interest groups such as the Buckeye Firearm Association, Ohio Right to Life, the Center for Christian Virtue, and the American Center for Law & Justice—would require just a simple-majority vote to pass, and it is expected to appear on the ballot in August.

The special election will mark a dizzying reversal for Ohio Republicans, who moved to effectively eliminate August elections last year due to their high costs and extremely low turnout.

"The side that wins is often the one that has a vested interest in the passage of the issue up for consideration," Frank LaRose, Ohio's Republican secretary of state and a supporter of the GOP attack on the ballot initiative process, wrote in testimony on August elections last year. "This isn't how democracy is supposed to work."

The GOP attack on direct democracy in Ohio, where abortion is heavily restricted, resembles efforts underway across the country. In January alone, Missouri Republicans introduced a dozen bills aimed at undercutting the ballot initiative process and weakening citizen lawmaking.

Democracy Docket noted that two of the Republican-authored resolutions in Missouri would, like the proposed amendment in Ohio, "raise the threshold to approve constitutional amendments to 60%."

According to the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center (BISC), at least 139 bills that would impact the ballot initiative process have been introduced in state legislatures this year.

"Efforts to undermine and weaken ballot measures have been increasing since the 2016 election in response to progressive wins and people-powered democracy at the ballot box," BISC said. "In many states, some politicians and wealthy special interests are trying to make it harder for voters to propose and pass ballot initiatives under the cover of so-called 'reforms.' These attacks have escalated and have become more nuanced, sophisticated, and would have deeper impacts on the initiative process."

While efforts to limit the ballot initiative process succeeded in some states last year, they failed elsewhere. As Common Dreamsreported, South Dakota voters overwhelmingly rejected a proposed constitutional amendment that would have raised the threshold for passage of most ballot measures from a simple majority to 60%.

In Michigan, Republican lawmakers attempted to have an abortion rights ballot initiative tossed even though organizers collected a record-shattering number of signatures from state residents. The GOP sabotage effort was blocked in court, and Michigan voters ultimately approved the proposition in November by a decisive margin.

But Republicans elsewhere are plowing ahead. The Times reported Sunday that "the North Dakota legislature this month approved a bill boosting the signature requirement for proposed constitutional amendments and requiring them to win approval in both primary and general elections."

"And in Arkansas, after voters last fall soundly rejected a constitutional amendment proposed by the legislature stiffening the requirements to get a measure on the ballot, the legislature simply passed new requirements as state law. Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed the law last month."

The Arkansas law more than tripled the number of counties where signatures must be collected for a citizen initiative to qualify for the ballot.

Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, tweeted Sunday that Republicans are attacking the ballot initiative process because "they know that the American people will vote to ensure access to reproductive care."

As the Times reported, "Republicans in Ohio have said openly that their efforts to make ballot amendments harder to pass are aimed at blocking abortion rights. They are putting their measure on the ballot in August, typically a time of low turnout. It will not include the word 'abortion,' which abortion rights supporters say will make it hard to engage their voters."

The ACLU of Ohio warned that the Republican amendment would "enact minority rule" in the state.

"Republican lawmakers pushing these efforts want 41% of voters to block ballot initiatives that 59% of voters support," the group said. "This is not democracy."

AOC Warns Of GOPQ Attacks On Civil Liberties

23:42 Apr 24 2023
Times Read: 306

AOC was interviewed by Jenn Psaki on MSNBC and said the following;

When Psaki asked Ocasio-Cortez about abortion, she discussed Republican efforts to erode civil rights, including abortion. “The Republican Party is not starting at Roe, they will not stop at Roe, they will not stop just at women’s rights,” she said. “I believe that what we are seeing is a concerted rollback of civi liberties in general — our right to privacy, our right to bodily autonomy, our right to marry whomever we wish to marry. All of this is at risk. I do not think they will stop.”

The representative continued, “Just as we warned about Roe, we are warning about the very real risks. We’re already seeing the attacks on trans Americans, we’re seeing the attacks on LGBT Americans. We have even seen Republican members of the Senate insinuate that interracial marriage is something that should be up for debate. These are our civil rights and our civil liberties, and we have to resist. We must resist these attempt to rollback the basic human rights of certain communities in America based on identity.”

AOC said more on Kevin McCarthy, Space Laser Barbie and the GOPQ. Read it here https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/aoc-calls-fox-news-tucker-173500879.html

Her statements echo what I have been saying for several years here. To put it bluntly you better wake the fuck up. You have two members of the Supreme Court Alito and Thomas who are hostile to women. Alito seems more comfortable in the 18th Century. You have GOPQ controlled State Legislatures that are trying to make it harder to pass a State Constitutional Amendment (for example Ohio where they wish to raise the percentage approving to 60. Why? polling suggests that the Republican State would vote to enshrine abortion rights, just like Kansas did).

Gun Purchases Soaring

12:47 Apr 24 2023
Times Read: 325

In fact, gun ownership rates among women and African Americans were rising before the health crisis, said Dr. Matt Miller, a professor of health sciences and epidemiology at Northeastern University who conducted a study with Harvard researcher Deborah Azrael.

“Sometime between 2016 and 2019, the new gun owners were more likely to be female and Black than prior to that and, whether it’s in response to feeling as though things are going out of control, the country is really divided, that’s a tempting speculation to make,” said Miller, referring to changing demographics among gun owners.

The Northeastern and Harvard study found that nearly 3% of US adults, or 7.5 million people, bought guns for the first time from January 2019 to April 2021. About half of the new gun owners were female, 20% were Black, and 20% were Hispanic. Overall, gun owners were 63% male and 73% White.

“The face of gun ownership is changing somewhat and the people who are becoming new gun owners today are less likely to be male and more likely to be non-White, more likely to be somewhat younger than existing and long-standing gun owners,” Miller said.

Well, the entire articles is much longer. I would invite you to read it all, however, I did find it interesting that the ownership of guns among females and blacks had soared.

Retired Naval Officer Fights against Book Bans in Florida

17:39 Apr 23 2023
Times Read: 333

A retired Navy officer who was aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt on 9/11 was among the parents who spoke out against book banning at this week’s school board meeting in Martin County, Florida.

“Religious fanatics, who wouldn’t even let women be educated, flew planes into the World Trade Center and my Pentagon,” 54-year-old Wess Rexrode said. “I spent the last decade of my naval career fighting religious fascism abroad. I never thought I’d have to fight it right here in the United States of America.”

Rexrode was speaking specifically of those who used a new Florida law to have 92 books banned from the county’s public school classrooms and libraries. Books by Jodi Picoult and Toni Morrison were removed following an objection filed by a member of Moms for Liberty who had not even read them.

I urge you to think about what a book ban means and use transparency,” Rexroad told the board on Tuesday.

As the father of a 14-year-old in middle school, he added, “I don’t need anyone else telling my son what he can and cannot read. I’m perfectly capable of doing that myself.”

He explained to the board that he had learned in his own childhood the importance of this particular freedom.

“I grew up in rural South Carolina, and books got me out of the trailer parks,” Rexrode said. “My parents trusted those educators and the librarians to let me read what I needed to read.”

Later, Rexrode told The Daily Beast that his mother had given him a set of encyclopedias for Christmas when he was 4.

“I think she paid in installments,” Rexrode said. “I just remember being happy, left alone with my encyclopedia. I was fortunate to be able to read early.”

His parents had parted ways, his father having returned from the Vietnam war what Rexrode describes as “broken.” His mother had struggled to raise him alone, managing to make the payments for the volumes that enabled her son to venture wherever his wonderings took him.

“That started a love of reading that I didn’t even know existed,” Rexrode recalled. “And then when I got into school, school was always easy for me.”

His mother remarried when he was 7 and he then had four stepsisters and stepbrothers who got him playing sports.

“Not that I was that good, but at least I played,” he recalled. “I still had my books. And I remember my mom’d drop me off at the library and leave me alone. Back then, they trusted teachers and they trusted librarians.”

He started out with books about sharks and snakes. He then ventured into fiction.

“And just that curiosity, learning new words,” he said. “And it sort of carried over into English and literature class.”

Ron DeSantis Just Made Life Easier for Parents Who Hate His Book Bans

But he had not figured his life would take a trajectory other than that of a typical country boy.

“Back then, you just got outta high school and you went to work,” he recalled. “I go along and I’m in high school and I’m in the college prep classes, but it’s still not really registering with me that I was gonna go to college until I did very, very well on the SATs going into my senior year. And then I just started getting inundated by colleges. And I’m like, ‘Well, I guess I’ll go to college.’”

He added, “I didn’t really have any blueprint for how that was supposed to work, but I wound up getting pretty much a full scholarship to Clemson.”

When he arrived at Clemson, he told himself, “I’m outta my league… this is the big time.”

But, he said, “I did OK. I got an engineering degree and then that catapulted me into the nuclear navy. The Navy had a nuclear propulsion officer candidate program for, you know, science and technical majors with a certain GPA.”

In the Navy, Rexrode began to add real life experiences to his virtual journeys through reading.

“You’re out of your comfort zone in your hometown where you’re surrounded by everybody and people,” he recalled. “There’s New Yorkers and there’s Californians and midwesterners and southerners and Alaskans and just everybody. And you learn to learn from different people’s backgrounds and different people’s perspectives. And you’re all sort of like in the same boat together. Literally.”

After 9/11, Rexrode was a supervisor for the crew that kept the US Theodore Roosevelt underway for 159 straight days, bringing the war to Al Qaeda and the Taliban. The mission seemed to be shared by all of America.

“We were at least united then,” he recalled.

Nine years into our longest war, in January 2010, Rexrode retired. His son was 2 as Rexrode settled down in Florida and took a job in commercial nuclear power. He became a single dad after his marriage unraveled. He settled into a busy routine of work and picking his son up at school and making dinner. He read Goodnight Moon to his son at bedtime until the boy aged out of it. The boy then became more interested in gaming than in books.

“It’s a different era,” Rexrode said. “We didn’t have the internet. He has to follow his own path. I look at my job as a parent as putting up the guardrails. You can’t protect him from everything.”

Last month, Rexrode began hearing that a nationwide surge of book banning in the name of protecting children had reached Martin County.

“I started remembering what books meant to me and how they helped me,” he told The Daily Beast.

And the whole notion of deciding what other people’s kids can and cannot read seemed a manifestation of domestic fascism that is too much like what he had spent a decade combating.

“My philosophy is, ‘If something goes against my beliefs, I can’t do that,’” he said. “But increasingly we’ve seen a lot of, ‘If that goes against my beliefs, YOU can’t do that.’ And I’m sorry, but that’s not America.”

He had hoped to join other parents in speaking out against the book banning at a school board meeting on March 21, but he was delayed by his immediate parental duties. There was an overflow crowd by the time he got there.

On Tuesday, Rexrode arranged for a friend to pick up his son at school. And this time, Rexrode arrived in time to speak. He quoted Admiral Hyman Rickover, who was known as the father of the nuclear navy.

“Admiral Rickover said a questioning attitude was the key to success,” Rexrode said.

Rexrode continued, “I want my son exposed to different ideas and different viewpoints so that he can learn to think critically and not be force fed somebody else’s opinion. We’ve all been exposed to different opinions. It makes us better, makes us stronger.”

“Diversity has made me stronger. And I didn’t sacrifice 21 years of my life to stand idly by while religious fanatics and other fanatics try to impose fascism on my country,” he added.

He ended by saying “Remember the Little Rock 9,” referring to the nine Black teens who integrated an Arkansas high school in 1957.

“If those kids could endure a year of people spitting on them and hating them just to go to school, just to get an education, our kids can deal with a little uncomfortableness from Jodi Picoult or Toni Morrison.”

Rexrode allowed that he had been nervous when he stepped up to speak, although he had routinely given briefings in the Navy.

“You’re in front of a bunch of people you don’t know, but it was just like, ‘Well, if I don’t say it, who’s gonna say it?’” he said of the school board meeting.

Once he was done, he said, “I felt good. I’m like, ‘OK, I think they need to hear it.’ They had heard from a lot of teachers, obviously, and parents, but not from someone like me with my background and perspective.”

In these divided times, he had invoked the too brief unity following 9/11.

“I’m not right or left,” Rexrode told The Daily Beast. “I think for myself, and my oath was to the Constitution, not a political party. I just want what’s best for America.”

He added, “I think my patriotism and my intelligence and my work ethic and my bonafides, I guess sort of speak to themselves. So then people typically have to debate me on the facts, instead of attacking me personally, which too many times a lot of debate these days devolves into.”

But on that night, the busy life of a single dad did not allow him to stick around for any after-meeting discussion.

“I had to leave and come home and feed my kid,” he said.

Montana GOPQ Silences Trans Member Permanently

Times Read: 342

Montana’s Republican-controlled legislature is punishing the state’s first trans representative for speaking out about proposed anti-trans legislation by refusing to recognize her to speak on any bills moving forward.

On Thursday, State Rep. Zooey Zephyr (D) pointed out she wasn’t being called on at all during a debate about defining sex in state law as not including trans people. “No amount of silencing tactics will deter me from standing up for the rights of the transgender community. This year, I have lost friends to suicide, and I have listened to the heart-wrenching stories of families dealing with suicide attempts, trans youth fleeing the state, and people being attacked on the side of the road—all due to legislation like this,” Zephyr said in a statement. “I will not apologize for speaking with clarity and precision about the harm these bills cause.”

A rules committee decided that the leader of the State House can opt to not recognize individuals without giving an explanation, Zephyr said. “This decision is a direct assault on the principles of our democracy and serves to silence the voice of my community, as well as the 11,000 constituents I represent.”

Zephyr is being silenced for having spoken out against an anti-trans bill on Tuesday. “This body should be ashamed,” she’d said. “If you vote yes on this bill and yes on these amendments I hope the next time there’s an invocation, when you bow your heads in prayer, you see the blood on your hands.”

The Montana Freedom Caucus then sent a letter demanding her censure “for attempting to shame the Montana legislative body and by using inappropriate and uncalled-for language during a floor debate.” They also misgendered Zephyr repeatedly in the letter. Zephyr was speaking out about amendments to state Senate Bill 99, which banned gender-affirming care for minors. (The bill has sent been to the Republican governor for his signature.)

MAGA Pastor Says Christians Must Be The Ones Writing The Laws

23:12 Apr 22 2023
Times Read: 347

The MAGA preacher Sean Feucht made an unsettling guest appearance in the Tulsa, Oklahoma church of Jackson Lahmeyer, founder of Pastors for Trump, the leading group of evangelicals supporting the former president’s reelection bid.

Standing on stage at Sheridan.Church on Wednesday, Feucht made a direct call for Christian nationalism — declaring that America should be governed according to biblical law for the benefit of believers, as a way to prepare for the second coming of Christ.

It’s all part of The King coming back,” Feucht told the audience. “That’s what we’re practicing for,” he insisted, before adding, “That’s why we get called ‘Christian nationalists.'”

Feucht then presented an imaginary dialog, in which he mockingly imitated the voice of secular critics: “You want The Kingdom to be the government,” he said, before thundering a reply in his own voice: “Yes!”

“You want God to come on over and take over the government,” he said, responding, again: “Yes!”

Fuecht continued, now using his voice alone: “We want God to be in control of everything! We want believers to be the ones writing the laws! Yes! Guilty as charged.”

Presenting an extreme theology, one that is a far-outlier in Christian circles, Feucht added that Christian nationalism is required of the faithful: “We wouldn’t be a disciple of Jesus if we didn’t believe that.”

Fuecht’s remarks, first highlighted by Right Wing Watch, represent a leap for the preacher. A former candidate for Congress, who once prayed over Trump in the Oval Office, Feucht has long associated himself with far-right lawmakers like Reps. Lauren Boehbert and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who have both embraced Christian nationalism.

But Feucht has, in the past, been somewhat more circumspect. He has opted for heavenly calls of intervention and guidance in government — praying for the casting out of demons from Washington — rather than advocating for an overt takeover of politics by Christian zealots.

Feucht’s appearance at the church of Donald Trump’s top evangelical cheerleader raises questions about the ex-president’s 2024 campaign, and the role of Christian nationalists in shaping policy for a prospective second term. (Privately, as Rolling Stone has reported, Trump has been calling on religious zealots in his camp to keep a lid on the issue of abortion.)

After this story was first published, Lahmeyer sent an email to supporters titled, “The Rolling Stone Is After Me, Sheridan.Church & Sean Feucht… AGAIN!” In the body of the email, Lahmeyer characterized this article as part of “the constant attack” waged against “authentic Christianity” in America. He called on the faithful “to engage to preserve our Christian Nation” by acting to “make sure that President Trump is elected for a third time in 2024” — a reference to the baseless conspiracy theory that Trump won the 2020 election. Lahmeyer insisted that ex-“President Trump has proven to be a friend of the Church in America.”

Feucht is currently on a fifty-state worship tour to bring his now-open brand of Christian nationalism to every state capitol in the land. That tour has the backing of Turning Point USA, the far-right political shop headed by Charlie Kirk. Its initiative TPUSAFaith has partnered with Fuecht’s Let Us Worship project to stage the Kingdom to the Capitol tour. TPUSAFaith’s website tells visitors: “TOGETHER WE CAN RESTORE AMERICA’S BIBLICAL VALUES.”

The tour kicked off in Washington, D.C., last month, with a prayer service in the Capitol rotunda, surreptitiously organized by Boehbert.

Jan 6. Defendant Fired On Deputies Who Were Trying To Arrest Him

23:26 Apr 20 2023
Times Read: 369

A Jan. 6 defendant wanted on misdemeanor charges opened fire at sheriff’s deputies last week as they checked on him ahead of his expected arrest, triggering a lengthy standoff, according to newly unsealed court filings.

Deputies from the Dallas-area Hunt County Sheriff’s Office indicated that they were dispatched to the home of Nathan Pelham on April 12 for a “wellness check” after his father warned he was a suicide risk and possessed a gun. After trying to coax Pelham to stand down for hours, sheriff’s deputies and the FBI were unable to arrest him that day. He was instead arrested on Tuesday.

Prior to the standoff, Pelham faced charges for his role in the Jan. 6 breach of the Capitol. Charging documents in that matter depict Pelham wearing goggles and a neck gaiter before entering the Capitol for about seven minutes on Jan. 6, 2021. Two months later, he was stopped at the Canadian border in Michigan and admitted to authorities that he had been in the Capitol.

Now, Pelham is facing a felony charge that could result in years of jail time for allegedly firing a 9mm pistol in the direction of deputies.

The sheriff’s deputies indicated that when they arrived at his house, Pelham sent his young daughter outside before he began firing gunshots.

“After putting the child in the patrol car, Deputy J.W. heard gunshots coming from inside the residence,” according to the newly revealed charging documents. “Deputy J.W. reported that the gunshots were spread out in time and that they were not towards the HCSO personnel. Deputy J.W. moved his patrol car away from the front of the residence for additional safety.”

The deputy who first said he shielded Pelham’s daughter arrived at about 8:40 p.m. An hour later, according to the filings, Pelham’s father arrived on the scene and another shot was fired.

“[T]he bullet from this gunshot came in so close proximity to myself that I could hear the distinct whistling sound as the bullet traveled by me and then strike a metal object to my right side,” one of the deputies, identified only as J.W., reported.

“[T]he bullet from this gunshot came in so close proximity to myself that I could hear the distinct whistling sound as the bullet traveled by me and then strike a metal object to my right side,” one of the deputies, identified only as J.W., reported.

An FBI agent arrived on the scene at about 10:40 p.m. to help put Pelham under arrest. He said he heard another six to seven gunshots fired.

The court documents indicate that Pelham has a 2003 Texas felony conviction, which barred him from being in possession of a firearm.

Dan Bongino, one of the most right-leaning hosts in the Fox News stable, is leaving the network after the Fox Corp.-backed outlet and he could not come to terms on a new contract.

“Folks, regretfully, last week was my last show on Fox News on the Fox News Channel,” Bongino said on his podcast Thursday. “It’s tough. It’s tough to say that. You know, I’ve been there doing hits and working there for ten years…so the show ending was tough. And I want you to know it’s not some big conspiracy. I promise you. There’s no acrimony. This wasn’t some WWE brawl that happened. We just couldn’t come to terms on an extension.

Lindell ORDERED TO PAY 5 Milliom

23:13 Apr 20 2023
Times Read: 373

Fox News isn’t alone in having to pay millions of dollars for lying about the 2020 election. MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell was ordered on Wednesday to pay $5 million to Robert Zeidman, a 63-year-old Trump voter who debunked Lindell’s claim that China interfered in the election based on data Lindell provided.

It’s a strange story. It started in August 2021 when Lindell claimed during a “cyber symposium” in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, that he had data proving China interfered in the election. He announced he would pay $5 million to anyone who prove him wrong, dubbing the contest, naturally, the “Prove Mike Wrong Challenge.”

Zeidman signed up for the challenge, which required only that contestants prove that the data Lindell provided didn’t have anything to do with the 2020 election. Zeidman, a computer forensics specialist, did just that, finding the data was total nonsense. Lindell refused to pay up, so Zeidman took him to arbitration. The arbitration panel ruled that Zeidman did indeed prove that the data in question “unequivocally did not reflect November 2020 election data,” ordering Lindell to pay within 30 days.

“The truth is finally out there,” Zeidman told The Washington Post in a statement, adding that he is “really happy” with the decision.

Lindell doesn’t seem very keen to abide by the decision. “It will end up in court,” Lindell said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “Just another attack to try and stop us from getting rid of the electronic voting machines.”

Asked if that meant he was having his lawyers file a challenge imminently, Lindell replied, “Yes.”

Even in the aftermath of Fox’s mammoth settlement with Dominion Voting Systems after a bruising and often embarrassing legal fight for the network, Lindell remained determined to keep aggressively pushing election denialism and baseless conspiracy theories this week.

Shortly after news broke Thursday of the order for him to pay up, the pillow mogul and Trump friend started telling Rolling Stone about his upcoming August “Election Crime Bureau Summit,” where he claims: “It will be over finally with all the attacks,” and that “I will be vindicated and all the media can apologize afterwards!”

Lindell is no stranger to court. The conspiracy theorizing pillow magnate was sued for defamation by Dominion over false claims that the company helped rig the election in President Biden’s favor. Lindell made the claims through several outlets, including Fox News, which on Monday settled their own defamation suit brought by Dominion to the tune of $787.5 million.

6 Y/O and Parents Shot When Her Ball Rolled into A Yard

12:15 Apr 20 2023
Times Read: 379

A 6-year-old girl and her parents were injured by gunfire on Tuesday night after a basketball rolled down a residential street in North Carolina and into a man’s yard, enraging him, neighbors told WSOC-TV.

Witnesses told the station that the gunman ran up and down the street, firing until he ran out of bullets.

The Gaston County Police Department said Wednesday they were still hunting for the alleged gunman, identified as Robert Louis Singletary, a 24-year-old man described as “armed and dangerous.”

The young girl, Kinsley White, was hospitalized after being seriously wounded. She was released overnight, family members told Queen City News. Her father, William White, remains in the hospital.

“He came out with a gun, he started shooting,” Kinsley explained to the outlet. “Hope my daddy is OK

Her mother, Ashley Hilderbrand, was grazed by a bullet and treated at the scene. She told WSOC that she heard the gunman make a threat to her husband and daughter: “I’m going to kill you.”

He then chased them, firing, while William White tried to shield Kinsley, Hilderbrand said.

A fourth person was shot at but not injured, police said.

Singletary faces multiple charges, including four counts of first-degree attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

In December, he was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend with what police described as a “mini sledgehammer.” He allegedly prevented her from leaving his apartment until she cleaned up the evidence of the assault. The woman was able to escape roughly two hours later.

Neighbors told WSOC that Singletary was new to the area and often got angry with children in the neighborhood.

Citing the ongoing investigation, a spokesperson for the Gaston County Police Department declined to confirm details of the case.

“I want to say to the people of Gaston County—this sort of violence will not stand,” Stephen Zill, the department’s chief, said in a statement posted to social media on Wednesday afternoon.

Police have partnered with the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force to find Singletary, Zill said.

“We don’t even know the man,” Kinsley told WSOC, appearing on camera with stitches in her cheek. “Why did you shoot my daddy and me? Why did you shoot a kid’s dad?”

The incident occurred a day after a recent spate of high-profile shootings involving young victims. On Monday, a 25-year-old man in Texas was arrested for shooting at a group of four high school cheerleaders after one of them mistakenly tried to get into his car, thinking it was hers.

Over the weekend, Kaylin Gillis, a 20-year-old woman, was killed in upstate New York after the car she was in pulled up the wrong driveway while searching for a friend’s house. A 65-year-old man was charged with one count of second-degree murder.

And last Thursday, a teenage honors student named Ralph Yarl was shot twice by an 84-year-old man after accidentally ringing the doorbell of the wrong house while trying to pick his younger brothers up in a Missouri neighborhood. Yarl was discharged from the hospital this week.

EX FOX Host Didn't Want Dominion To Settle

09:22 Apr 20 2023
Times Read: 383

Former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson has revealed why she urged Dominion Voting Systems on Sunday not to settle its $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News.

The voting technology company reached a $787.5 million settlement with the right-wing network on Tuesday, the same day the case was supposed to go to trial.

“As somebody who’s also had a very high-profile lawsuit against the former CEO and chairman of Fox News, Roger Ailes, as somebody who’s been silenced as a result of that ― [not] being able to tell all the facts of what actually happened to me ― you know, I was vicariously living through Dominion and hoping that they would be able to get to the truth,” Carlson told CNN’s Anderson Cooper in an interview Wednesday.

On Sunday night, amid swirling reports that Fox News was making a last-minute push to settle the case out of court, Carlson tweeted: “PLEASE Dominion — Do not settle with Fox! You’re about to prove something very big.”

Carlson left the network in 2016 and subsequently received a reported $20 million settlement related to her allegations of sexual harassment against then-CEO Ailes. She received an apology from the network but was required to sign a nondisclosure agreement that prevents her from discussing many details about her case and what she experienced.
In its statement on Tuesday’s settlement, Fox News vaguely acknowledged that it had broadcast “certain claims” about Dominion that were false, though it did not apologize and went on to hail the settlement as a reflection of its “commitment to the highest journalistic standards.”

Carlson said she was unsurprised by the outcome.

Asked why she believed the media company settled, she said: “I think that they saw the writing on the wall.”

“The judge had several rulings during hearings that were not in their favor,” she said. “And it could have also been the makeup of the jury. I mean, remember the jury was seated, and maybe they didn’t like what they saw.”

“And also, I think that they obviously did not want their top hosts to be ... media fodder for five or six weeks under oath,” she added.

Dominion had sued for $1.6 billion, accusing Fox News of defaming it by promoting lies that its voting equipment was partly responsible for former President Donald Trump’s loss of the 2020 election, despite knowing those accusations were untrue.

Dominions Lead Attorney

16:06 Apr 19 2023
Times Read: 399

The lead attorney for Dominion Voting Systems on Tuesday spoke about the company’s decision to enter into an eleventh-hour settlement with Fox News in the widely anticipated defamation suit involving some of the right-wing network’s 2020 election coverage.

Justin Nelson said while Dominion felt vindicated to have held Fox News accountable for its lies, the $787.5 million settlement also felt “bittersweet.”

In a statement, the network also acknowledged “the Court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false.”

The lawsuit centered on baseless claims that Dominion used its voting equipment to somehow switch votes from former President Donald Trump to Joe Biden, thus interfering with the 2020 election result. Dominion claims that Fox News’ broadcast of those falsehoods resulted in threats against its employees, and lost profits.

But the settlement doesn’t appear to require Fox News hosts to tell their viewers about those lies on the air.

The agreement also means prominent hosts, like Tucker Carlson, and high-profile people at the network, including Fox founder Rupert Murdoch, won’t publicly testify, thus avoiding what was likely to be an embarrassing spectacle.

Of course we would have liked to have seen the hosts take the stand, and others,” Nelson told MSNBC’s “The ReidOut.” “But at the end of the day what we really cared about was that accountability, and today we think we achieved it.”

Asked about the potential missed opportunity of having Fox News tell its viewers on its air about the lies it spread, Nelson said ultimately: “You can’t hide from paying nearly 800 million dollars, and having that in a public settlement.”

“The civil litigation system can only do so much,” Nelson continued.

Nelson said the company was successful in the goals it set out for this legal challenge: getting that accountability and some recompense for the harm the company suffered by Fox’s lies.

Yes, FOX lies. FOX lies ALL THE TIME. It is a propaganda network.

Is it over? Dominion has lawsuits pending against Powell, Guiliani and others.

FOX has settled suits against Bartiromo, and Stuart whatever his name is.

Smartmatic , the other machine voting company has a pending suit against FOX and is seeking in excess of 2 Billion, which maybe a tad excessive.

One more thing Rupert Murdoch has 6 children. Murdoch is 92.... at least one of his children , James, dislikes more than one FOX host. Unfortunately, it is Lachlan his brother who will probably be given the reins of power. I wonder if all of them will receive voting shares of stocks? MMmmm what would happen, if the 5 ousted the one? Then maybe the lies will stop.

Well, in all likelihood we will know within a couple of years.

Mega Donor Dumps Duhsantis At Least For Now

Republican megadonor Thomas Peterffy said he is suspending donations to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) ahead of his potential 2024 presidential campaign.

“I have put myself on hold,” the billionaire founder of Interactive Brokers Group Inc. told the Financial Times in an article published Saturday.

“Because of his stance on abortion and book banning . . . myself, and a bunch of friends, are holding our powder dry,” Peterffy explained.

On Thursday night, DeSantis signed Florida Republicans’ restrictive six-week abortion ban into law. He has also banned Black history courses and books, moves that were apparently too extreme for Peterffy.

DeSantis, a possible challenger to former President Donald Trump for the Republican nomination, “seems to have lost some momentum,” Peterffy added.

In November 2022, Peterffy was one of five Republican heavies to distance themselves from Trump following the GOP’s poor showing in that month’s midterm elections, which was largely attributed to Trump’s endorsement of candidates who regurgitated his 2020 election lies.
I think we need a fresh face,” Peterffy told Bloomberg at the time. “The problem with Trump is he has so many negatives, he can’t get elected, period.”

Peterffy said he would vote for Trump if he became the GOP nominee, though.

So this would be presidente has signed a 6 week abortion ban during a private ceremony. His office announced after 11:00 PM on Thursday. He flew to Liberty University in Lynchburg Virginia to give a speech where he DOES NOT mention what he had done the night before . One would think he would crow about it especially to the packed room of conservatives. Remember Liberty was founded by Jerry Falwell the evangelical bible thumper. But Duhsantis didn't mention it.... because he didn't want to be on video so soon touting it. He can't avoid it forever but he wishes to now. Later that day he flew to New Hampshire for another speech, whereupon he was rushed by spectators and he had to be removed from the stage.

One should never forgot the GOPQ war on women and their right to make their own medical decisions. The GOPQ owns this.

Jan. 6 Defendant Sentenced to 7.5 Years

09:23 Apr 15 2023
Times Read: 455

Few images captured the visceral violence and horror of Jan. 6 more clearly than the moment Patrick McCaughey — a 23-year-old from Connecticut — pinned a D.C. Police officer, Daniel Hodges, in a Capitol doorway as he howled in pain.

On Friday, more than two years later, McCaughey was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison for his role in the riot and attempt by supporters of Donald Trump to prevent the transfer of power to Joe Biden. His sentence is among the lengthiest handed down to Jan. 6 rioters so far, though it was less than half of the nearly 16 years that the Justice Department sought.

McCaughey, who stood before U.S. District Court Judge Trevor McFadden in an orange jumpsuit while he awaited his fate, delivered a profuse apology for his conduct, describing his behavior on Jan. 6 as “monumentally stupid.”

“I wish I had better control of myself,” he said, calling his behavior “less like a citizen and more like an animal.”

McCaughey pinned Hodges in a Capitol doorway for more than two minutes while another rioter ripped off the officer’s gas mask, stole his baton and struck him with it. It became a symbol of the barbaric violence that unfolded in the Capitol’s lower West Terrace tunnel, famous before that day as the corridor through which presidents-elect emerge to take their oath of office.

McCaughey was at the “vanguard” of that violent section of the mob, McFadden noted, and arrived there only after spending 20 minutes taunting police before their line collapsed and they were forced to retreat into the tunnel. McCaughey became “a poster child of all that was dangerous and appalling” about Jan. 6, McFadden said.

McFadden found McCaughey guilty in September after a bench trial on three charges of assaulting or impeding police officers, obstructing Congress’ proceedings and participating in a civil disorder, among several other charges. He was tried alongside two other defendants who were nearby in the tunnel.

Despite the extraordinary aspects of McCaughey’s case, in some ways he cut a familiar profile for Jan. 6 defendants: He had no prior criminal record and was seen as a positive member of his Connecticut community prior to the 2020 election. Afterward, amid Trump’s false claims about the results, McCaugehy traveled down a rabbit hole of conspiracy theories, many amplified by Fox News and other Trump-aligned media outlets.

In McCaughey’s case, there was also the role of his father, whom family members described as a pernicious influence on him — encouraging his beliefs that the election was stolen.

McCaughey’s father accompanied his son to Washington but became separated from him before the assaults, McCaughey’s defense attorney, Dennis Boyle, said.

Hodges also addressed McFadden prior to sentencing, describing the daily trauma he still experiences as a result of the assaults he suffered on Jan. 6. He urged McFadden to reject claims by McCaughey and others of being simply “caught up in the moment.” But he also described McCaughey as a “foot soldier” in a larger effort by those seeking to overturn the 2020 election.

McCaughey’s sentence mirrors two handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson to rioters who assaulted D.C. Police officer Michael Fanone. Both men — Albuquerque Head and Kyle Young — were sentenced to just over seven years in prison for their crimes, which were also committed by the lower West Terrace tunnel. It also matches the sentence of Guy Reffitt, a Texas militia member who carried a gun at the Capitol and engaged in a lengthy standoff with police that helped rioters amass at the foot of the building.

The lengthiest Jan. 6 sentence to date belongs to Thomas Webster, a former NYPD cop who was convicted by a jury of a brutal assault against a police officer defending the line at the Capitol. U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta sentenced Webster to 10 years in prison, a steep sentence but one that fell more than 90 months shy of the Justice Department’s recommendation.

Duhsantis Signs 6 Week Abortion Ban

09:09 Apr 14 2023
Times Read: 473

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed Republicans’ restrictive, six-week abortion ban into law Thursday night.

The bill passed the Florida House on Thursday afternoon with 70 members voting for the ban and 40 voting against. The legislation not only bans abortion after six weeks ― a point at which most people don’t realize they’re pregnant ― but also prohibits telehealth for abortion care and allots $25 million annually for deceptive anti-abortion pregnancy centers. Republicans in both the Florida House and Senate voted down amendments to audit the $25 million, which would ensure the government knew how the taxpayer money is spent.

The law won’t go into effect until the Florida Supreme Court rules on a challenge to the state’s current 15-week ban on abortion. Abortion rights groups are not optimistic about that ruling, given that DeSantis stacked the court with conservative judges after three longtime justices retired in recent years.

“From Ron DeSantis down, many lawmakers in Florida will stop at nothing to take away our freedom to make decisions about our own bodies,” Alexis McGill Johnson, president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, said in a statement after the vote.

“These policy decisions disproportionately hurt Black and Latino people, LGBTQ+ people, and people with low incomes due to systemic racism and discrimination,” she added. “While today we mourn the imminent loss of abortion access for millions of people, we will keep fighting back in the days, months, and years to come until all Floridians can get the care they deserve without barriers or delay.”

The success of the abortion ban is critical for DeSantis, who needs to pad his anti-abortion record ahead of a potential 2024 presidential run. Although he has yet to announce his presidential bid, DeSantis will likely face a crowded Republican primary pool in 2024, including well-known anti-choice advocates former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence.

Crowe Bought Property Owned by Clarence The Corrupt

22:11 Apr 13 2023
Times Read: 482

The transaction is the first known instance of money flowing from Crow to the Supreme Court justice. The sale netted the GOP megadonor two vacant lots and the house where Thomas’ mother was living.

In 2014, one of Texas billionaire Harlan Crow’s companies purchased a string of properties on a quiet residential street in Savannah, Georgia. It wasn’t a marquee acquisition for the real estate magnate, just an old single-story home and two vacant lots down the road. What made it noteworthy were the people on the other side of the deal: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his relatives.

The transaction marks the first known instance of money flowing from the Republican megadonor to the Supreme Court justice. The Crow company bought the properties for $133,363 from three co-owners — Thomas, his mother and the family of Thomas’ late brother, according to a state tax document and a deed dated Oct. 15, 2014, filed at the Chatham County courthouse.

The purchase put Crow in an unusual position: He now owned the house where the justice’s elderly mother was living. Soon after the sale was completed, contractors began work on tens of thousands of dollars of improvements on the two-bedroom, one-bathroom home, which looks out onto a patch of orange trees. The renovations included a carport, a repaired roof and a new fence and gates, according to city permit records and blueprints.

A federal disclosure law passed after Watergate requires justices and other officials to disclose the details of most real estate sales over $1,000. Thomas never disclosed his sale of the Savannah properties. That appears to be a violation of the law, four ethics law experts told ProPublica.

The disclosure form Thomas filed for that year also had a space to report the identity of the buyer in any private transaction, such as a real estate deal. That space is blank.

“He needed to report his interest in the sale,” said Virginia Canter, a former government ethics lawyer now at the watchdog group CREW. “Given the role Crow has played in subsidizing the lifestyle of Thomas and his wife, you have to wonder if this was an effort to put cash in their pockets.”

Thomas did not respond to detailed questions for this story.

In a statement, Crow said he purchased Thomas’ mother’s house, where Thomas spent part of his childhood, to preserve it for posterity. “My intention is to one day create a public museum at the Thomas home dedicated to telling the story of our nation’s second black Supreme Court Justice,” he said. “I approached the Thomas family about my desire to maintain this historic site so future generations could learn about the inspiring life of one of our greatest Americans.”

Crow’s statement did not directly address why he also bought two vacant lots from Thomas down the street. But he wrote that “the other lots were later sold to a vetted builder who was committed to improving the quality of the neighborhood and preserving its historical integrity.”

ProPublica also asked Crow about the additions on Thomas’ mother’s house, like the new carport. “Improvements were also made to the Thomas property to preserve its long-term viability and accessibility to the public,” Crow said.

Ethics law experts said Crow’s intentions had no bearing on Thomas’ legal obligation to disclose the sale.
The justice’s failure to report the transaction suggests “Thomas was hiding a financial relationship with Crow,” said Kathleen Clark, a legal ethics expert at Washington University in St. Louis who reviewed years of Thomas’ disclosure filings.

There are a handful of carve-outs in the disclosure law. For example, if someone sells “property used solely as a personal residence of the reporting individual or the individual’s spouse,” they don’t need to report it. Experts said the exemptions clearly did not apply to Thomas’ sale.

The revelation of a direct financial transaction between Thomas and Crow casts their relationship in a new light. ProPublica reported last week that Thomas has accepted luxury travel from Crow virtually every year for decades, including private jet flights, international cruises on the businessman’s superyacht and regular stays at his private resort in the Adirondacks. Crow has long been influential in conservative politics and has spent millions on efforts to shape the law and the judiciary. The story prompted outcry and calls for investigations from Democratic lawmakers.

In response to that reporting, both Thomas and Crow released statements downplaying the significance of the gifts. Thomas also maintained that he wasn’t required to disclose the trips.

“Harlan and Kathy Crow are among our dearest friends,” Thomas wrote. “As friends do, we have joined them on a number of family trips.” Crow told ProPublica that his gifts to Thomas were “no different from the hospitality we have extended to our many other dear friends.”

It’s unclear if Crow paid fair market value for the Thomas properties. Crow also bought several other properties on the street and paid significantly less than his deal with the Thomases. One example: In 2013, he bought a pair of properties on the same block — a vacant lot and a small house — for a total of $40,000.

In his statement, Crow said his company purchased the properties “at market rate based on many factors including the size, quality, and livability of the dwellings.”

He did not respond to requests to provide documentation or details of how he arrived at the price.

Thomas was born in the coastal hamlet of Pin Point, outside Savannah. He later moved to the city, where he spent part of his childhood in his grandfather’s home on East 32nd Street.

“It had hardwood floors, handsome furniture, and an indoor bathroom, and we knew better than to touch anything,” Thomas wrote of the house in his memoir, “My Grandfather’s Son.”

He inherited his stake in that house and two other properties on the block following the death of his grandfather in 1983, according to records on file at the Chatham County courthouse. He shared ownership with his brother and his mother, Leola Williams. In the late 1980s, when Thomas was an official in the George H.W. Bush administration, he listed the addresses of the three properties in a disclosure filing. He reported that he had a one-third interest in them.

Thomas was confirmed to the Supreme Court in 1991. By the early 2000s, he had stopped listing specific addresses of property he owned in his disclosures. But he continued to report holding a one-third interest in what he described as “rental property at ## 1, 2, & 3” in Savannah. He valued his stake in the properties at $15,000 or less.

Two of the houses were torn down around 2010, according to property records and a footnote in Thomas’ annual disclosure archived by Free Law Project.

In 2014, the Thomas family sold the vacant lots and the remaining East 32nd Street house to one of Crow’s companies. The justice signed the paperwork personally. His signature was notarized by an administrator at the Supreme Court, Perry Thompson, who did not respond to a request for comment. (The deed was signed on the 23rd anniversary of Thomas’ Oct. 15 confirmation to the Supreme Court. Crow has a Senate roll call sheet from the confirmation vote in his private library.)

Thomas’ financial disclosure for that year is detailed, listing everything from a “stained glass medallion” he received from Yale to a life insurance policy. But he failed to report his sale to Crow.

Crow purchased the properties through a recently formed Texas company called Savannah Historic Developments LLC. The company shares an address in Dallas with Crow Holdings, the centerpiece of his real estate empire. Its formation documents were signed by Crow Holdings’ general counsel. Business records filed with the Texas secretary of state say Savannah Historic Developments is managed by a Delaware LLC, HRC Family Branch GP, an umbrella company that also covers other Crow assets like his private jet. The Delaware company’s CEO is Harlan Crow.

FOX on the Run

So I'm on the treadmill this morning and the tube is on Fox and Friends (lol), and though I'm not listening to it I see one pic after another of Hunter Biden.

The reason is obvious, FOX is trying to divert. Divert what you say. Well FOX is getting their ass handed to them in a Delaware Courtroom. The judge has already decided that FOX lied. He stated that in a written order. The jury will decide damages if any. Next, the Judge sanctioned the Corporate Attorney's for FOX after finding there was a discovery violation. One of the items that came to light was a recording made by the former FOX producer who was fired. This same producer has a pending lawsuit against alleging that she was told to lie by the Corporate attorneys and by FOX execs.

The judge is also considering a Special Master to investigate that failure by FOX and attorneys.

No wonder FOX is splashing Hunter Biden's face all over their broadcasts. Nothing like confusing their inbred audience.

Oh, one more thing, if any of you own shares of FOX..... you might consider selling before the jury verdict. Keeping in mind that Dominion is seeking 1.6 billion. I'm not saying they are going to get that but......

Carlson On Wednesday Night

lol... it is amazing that Tuckerofsky the C.I.A. reject who was raised by his step mother, whose last night was SWANSON, rails about someone having privilege. It should be noted that public speaking often changes as one gains experience.

oh , and for those of you who don't know the Swanson reference, just look in the freezer sections at your grocery of choice.

Carlson Goes On Racist Rant

09:51 Apr 13 2023
Times Read: 494

Tucker Carlson went on an overtly racist tirade against a Tennessee state lawmaker on Wednesday night, suggesting Democratic Rep. Justin Pearson speaks like a “sharecropper” and got into college only because he’s Black.

Pearson is one of two Black lawmakers recently expelled from the state legislature by the GOP supermajority for joining protesters who chanted in the House chamber in support of gun control following a school shooting that left six people dead in Nashville last month. Pearson was reinstated Wednesday by the Shelby County Board of Commissioners in Memphis, and state Rep. Justin Jones was reinstated Monday by Nashville’s Metro Council.

In a Fox News segment attacking Pearson and other Democrats for what he called “mimicking civil rights leaders,” Carlson said Pearson had changed his demeanor over the years from that of a “crypto white kid” into “the “modern incarnation of Martin Luther King Jr. himself.”

“Pearson has been in the news recently for helping to facilitate an insurrection at the Tennessee State House,” Carlson said.

He played a video Pearson had filmed in 2016 when he was campaigning for student body president at Bowdoin College. In Carlson’s estimation, in that video, Pearson was trying to act like a white person.

“Justin Pearson wasn’t white. That’s probably how we got into Bowdoin in the first place,” he said, referring to the private liberal arts college in Maine. “But he did a fantastic impression of it .... That was the old Justin Pearson, before his ‘transition.’”

You got to ask yourself, as long as we’re mimicking civil rights leaders who died almost 60 years ago, why not some variety?” Carlson added after showing a video of Pearson speaking passionately on the House floor last week ahead of the vote to expel him.

“You never see politicians transitioning to say, Malcolm X. Why is that? Maybe because Malcolm X didn’t talk like a sharecropper. He spoke dignified standard English,” Carlson said.

It’s not unusual for Carlson to make racist comments and embrace white supremacist talking points on his show, one of the most-watched cable news programs in the country. He’s repeatedly promoted the racist “great replacement” conspiracy theory, which claims that white Christian Americans are being intentionally replaced by immigrants, people of color and non-Christians. Once, on a radio show in 2008, he called people from Iraq “semiliterate primitive monkeys.”

Delaware Judge Sanctions FOX

01:57 Apr 13 2023
Times Read: 506

A judge in Delaware has sanctioned Fox News for withholding evidence in Dominion Voting Systems’ blockbuster lawsuit against the company just days before the matter is set to go to trial.

Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis expressed anger with the network’s lawyers and suggested he could order an investigation into an effort to withhold evidence from Dominion’s team as part of its process of discovery, according to a person in the courtroom during a pre-trail hearing on Wednesday.

Davis’s ruling came after lawyers for Dominion played a never-before revealed recording they obtained from former Fox producer Abby Grossberg of Rudy Giuliani, a top aide to former President Trump, speaking with Fox employees. Dominion’s lawyers said Grossberg has more recordings from her time inside Fox that she has shared with the company’s legal team.

Grossberg, who is also suing Fox and was fired by the network earlier this year, has said she was pressured by Fox’s lawyers to give false testimony in the Dominion case.

“They destroy people,” Grossberg, who worked as a producer for Maria Bartiromo, Tucker Carlson and other top hosts at the network, said during a recent television interview. “I realized that the answers that they wanted me to say were putting me in a very vulnerable position to be the company scapegoat.”

Grossberg had previously told Dominion’s lawyers in sworn depositions that she felt it wasn’t her responsibility to fact-check Trump’s false claims of voter fraud.

“I made the decision to keep my job so that I can keep paying my bills. It seemed like the safer decision for me at the time,” she said in her testimony.

The judge on Wednesday instructed Fox’s lawyers to preserve their communications, and his ruling could open Fox up to another round of discovery that could unearth more revelations about the inner workings at the cable news giant around the time of the election.

In a statement to The Hill on Wednesday, Fox said “as counsel explained to the Court, Fox produced the supplemental information from Ms. Grossberg when we first learned it.”

Dominion is accusing Fox of knowingly airing false information about its software, claims that were promoted by Trump, Giuliani and others.

Fox has defended itself on First Amendment grounds and has said the internal communications of its top hosts and executives have been “cherry picked” to drum up press coverage of the case.

Among the revelations made public through Dominion’s process of discovery were text messages from hosts like Tucker Carlson saying claims about electoral fraud were “insane” and an acknowledgement from Rupert Murdoch that some of the hosts on his network at the same time endorsed those claims.

“Maybe Sean and Laura went too far,” Murdoch wrote to Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott, according to the filing. “All very well for Sean to tell you he was in despair about Trump but what did he tell his viewers?”

Davis’s ruling comes the day after Dominion’s attorneys told the judge that they learned just this week that Rupert Murdoch, who could be called to testify as a witness in the case, also was an officer of Fox News, holding the title of executive chair. That was contrary to repeated assertions by Fox attorneys.

Fox said in a statement late Tuesday said “Rupert Murdoch has been listed as executive chairman of FOX News in our SEC filings since 2019 and this filing was referenced by Dominion’s own attorney during his deposition.”

One is back in and the other probably will be before the end of the week. However, my understanding is that both have to run in special elections now. But did you see all those protestors and supporters? No wonder most of the TN GOPQ refused to talk about the events. Remember what set this off was the massacre at the Covenant School.... GOPQ love their guns ..... they worship at the N.R.A. Altar .... after all wasn't one of the 10 Commandments was that ye go forth and possess weapons of war and slaughter they neighbor and thy neighbors children. Right, it's there isn't it?

Has ANONYMOUS Hacked The Pornhub Account of Clarence Thomas

18:19 Apr 09 2023
Times Read: 547

"Clarence Thomas, your pornhub account is on the Bin." Whatever that means. I'd guess a repository of passwords and accounts they have on various right-wing sociopaths, like Clarence and Ginni Thomas.

And I have no idea how legit any of this is, or whether it really means anything anyway—more just an excuse to put "Clarence Thomas" and "Pornhub" in the same sentence. Mission accomplished.

Anonymous jacked Lauren Boebert/Marjorie Taylor Green/SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas’s online passwords and data, including the password for Justice Thomas’s Pornhub account (that dirty little rascal).

OOOOHHH. They are on the STICK. And while I stand firmly against doxxing, this is different. I assume the names and numbers below coincide with the files and passwords they have on each individual.

I think the news Justice Thomas has accepted MILLIONS in lavish gifts and trips from Nazi Memorabilia Collector/HARD RIGHT theocratic fascist business dude Harlan Crow might have been the trigger Anonymous needed to release “The Bin.”

Boebert and MTG’s passwords and info are probably just for fun, but there are HUNDREDS of documents, and we’re about to see them all (Anonymous ALWAYS does what they say they’ll do).

https://crooksandliars.com/2023/04/anonymous-claims-have-hacked-clarence

Ok.... well.... mmmmm. You see the billionaire scum that gave Thomas hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of vacations collects Nazi Memorabila. This makes the guy SCUM. As I said in an earlier post Thomas is corrupt. It's time for him to pay. I hope ANONYMOUS unleashes HELL on them.

Texas Fed. Judge Blocks Abortion Pill

22:51 Apr 08 2023
Times Read: 564

By Susie Madrak — April 8, 2023
Matthew J. Kacsmaryk finally issued his opinion last night on the abortion pill mifepristone, ordering the FDA to remove it. It is, as you can expect from a Trump appointee, lacking in legal foundation and heavy on the gobbledygook. Via the New York Times:

A federal judge in Texas issued a preliminary ruling invalidating the Food and Drug Administration’s 23-year-old approval of the abortion pill mifepristone, an unprecedented order that — if it stands through court challenges — could make it harder for patients to get abortions in states where abortion is legal, not just in those trying to restrict it.

The drug will continue to be available at least in the short-term since the judge, Matthew J. Kacsmaryk, stayed his own order for seven days to give the F.D.A. time to ask an appeals court to intervene.

Less than an hour after Judge Kacsmaryk’s ruling, a judge in Washington state issued a ruling that directly contradicted the Texas decision, ordering the F.D.A. to make no changes to the availability of mifepristone.

The conflicting orders by two federal judges appear to create a legal standoff likely to escalate to the Supreme Court.

Whoa—a Washington judge just issued a dueling injunction PROHIBITING the FDA from pulling mifepristone off the market. It directly conflicts with Kacsmaryk’s. https://t.co/ALyxbCG4J4 https://t.co/4567U4DzVg pic.twitter.com/PrcEfrctLY

So there you go the MAGA WAR ON WOMEN's HEALTH decisions continue. 2024 is right around the corner.

And the Judge was A Mango Appointee who had an UNQUALIFIED rating from the ABA or perhaps I'm confusing him with other Mango appointees to the Fed Bench.

Blue Wave Washes Over Wisconsin

10:03 Apr 06 2023
Times Read: 590

By Chris capper Liebenthal — April 5, 2023
It's been a long time coming, but a new day and a new hope has risen on the State of Wisconsin and on America.

After the Republicans and their dark money special interest backers threw everything they could at her, Janet Protasiewicz won the race for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. And she won in a big way with an 11% lead, or about 200,000 votes.

This is a major ground shift for Wisconsin, where the Republicans had control of the state supreme court for the past 15 years. With progressives now with the majority, a lot of bad could become undone. A list of things that could be brought before the court in the next several years include:

The complete ban on abortion with no exceptions
The gerrymandered districting maps which in turn would lead to fair elections
Act 10 and Right To Work laws
Voter rights, including photo ID and the use of drop boxes
Another issue that is sure to come up are the rules about the 2024 election, including challenges to the election results, like we had seen in 2020.

Progressives won several smaller elections for judges and school boards. Notable is that Sara Geenen who ousted Bill Brash for the District 1 Appellate Court. It's notable because it was Geenen's first election and she ousted Brash, a Scott Walker appointee, by a 2:1 ratio.

To paraphrase Protasiewicz in her acceptance speech, Wisconsin's state motto is "Forward." Now, after all these years, we can start living up to that again.

https://crooksandliars.com/2023/04/wisconsin-hit-biggest-bluest-wave-ever

Well there you go the Wisconsin Supreme Court Race went to the liberal Judge on Tuesday by 200,000 votes. It wasn't close. Not to mention the appellate court race that a so-called liberal judge won over a Scott Walker appointed judge. For those of you that don't know who the GOPQ former governor of Wisconsin is.... he is a right wing nut case who once said people who lived outside of major cities should have their votes counted twice as much. Meaning rural counties and areas are mainly white. There you go.

Stormy Tells Marge He Will Not Fuck You

16:06 Apr 03 2023
Times Read: 621

Controversial Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed that "Democrats want civil war," then, of course, she launched a personal attack on porn actor Stormy Daniels, which was weird. Marge called Daniels "old and disgusting" even though she's 4 years older than Stormy.

Since Sporkfoot brought up "disgusting," I find it disgusting for a married man to spend some sexy time with a woman right after his wife gave birth, then pay the woman off to silence her.

Stormy responded by saying that Trump won't ever fuck her.

lol

Marge is older than Stormy. lol... She is jealous. Marge should stick with the personal trainers, yoga instructors and assorted gym rats which is apparently what caused her divorce....

In any event, it caught my eye and is somewhat funny.

Duhsantis Vows To Violate The Constitution

10:40 Apr 01 2023
Times Read: 644

President Donald Trump talks to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, left, during a visit to Lake Okeechobee and Herbert Hoover Dike at Canal Point, Florida, March 29, 2019. DeSantis has recently claimed he would defy the U.S. Constitution to protect Trump from criminal charges.

Just months after suspending a local prosecutor for saying he would not pursue abortion cases, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is vowing to defy the U.S. Constitution to protect newly indicted Donald Trump from criminal charges by refusing to hand him over to New York state.

“It certainly appears that Gov. DeSantis needs to immediately suspend Gov. DeSantis,” said Andrew Warren, whom the Republican governor removed from his elected position in Tampa’s Hillsborough County last summer and who is now suing to regain his job. “The hypocrisy speaks for itself.”

Both the United States Constitution, in Article 4, Section 2, as well as the Extradition Act plainly say that each state must honor arrest requests from every other state to avoid the problem of criminals fleeing from justice just by crossing state lines.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/ron-desantis-vows-violate-u-213816789.html

lol....this is good... ok it is political grand standing because I'm guessing Duhsantis is privately thrilled. Mango will surrender next week though the visualization of Mango barricaded at Mar-A-Lago is actually one I would enjoy watching. Imagine the orange jesus tried to fly to another GOPQ/MAGA friendly state... the plane lands at the airport and he is arrested by THE FEDS for interstate flight to avoid prosecution.... lol... that would be great

Back to Duhsantis he is nothing but a thug in a suit. lol stay tuned
