I asked my coven members, to come up with a poem for the Guardians of Darkness, having to do with Xmas. These are the two that my members came up with.
From Contessa:
Twas the Night before xmas, GoD style
T’was the night before Christmas and all through the Coven
Not a creature was stirring not even TheHaunted
The forum was filled with threads full of cheer
In hopes that LadyC would be happy with them
The youth were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of adult hood danced in their heads.
CN in her kerchief and Cereberos69 in his cap
Had just settled in for a nice long chat.
When out in the coven forum there arose such a clatter
I sprang to my pc to see what was the matter
Away to explorer I flew like a flash
Tore open the browser and logged in in a flash
The moon on the breast of new fallen snow
Gave a magical luster to objects below
When what to my wandering eyes should appear
But a bright red sleigh pulled by eight GoD’s
With a darkly cloaked driver so silent and sure
I knew in that moment LordV was here
More rapid than megabytes his orders they flew as
He scowled and shouted and called them by name
On Keira and Khornesone, on SweetNightmare and Kage
Now ShadowofMystry, Now Defeated1,
And Wolfbite, you too!
To the top of the forum, to the top of them all
Now dash away, dash away, dash away all
As applicants that before the Masters do plead
For entrance into a society they think is neat.
So up to their forum the members they flew
With a sleigh full of posts and some new threads too.
And then in a twinkle I saw it begin as each member
added posts we all could enjoy.
As I drew in my hands no worries to be found
Into the Lady’s Garden was where all lay around
LadyC looked around at her happy little group
And offered up advice with great care and good heart
Calmness and support she offered with ease
While allowing no negatives to hold their say
Her face was aglow with love and concern
For the coven she runs with LordV at her hand
From them both came security, support and fun
A lovely couple they both truly are
Smart and caring but stern when they must
I trusted and liked them in spite of myself
A wink of his eye and a twist of her head
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread
They spoke few words but went straight to the work
Of leading their coven, then turned with a jerk
And laying his finger aside of his nose and
Giving a nod, out of the forum he arose
He sprang to his sled to his team gave a whistle
And away they all flew, just like a thistle
But I heard him exclaim ere he flew out of sight
Happy guardians to all and to all a good night.
The above is obviously paraphrase of C. Moore's famous poem. Again I stuck close to the original but I hope you all enjoy it.
Due to all the snow that everyone is getting....

This is my favorite Christmas song.
The author of the song was on tour with his band and they were sitting around on the bus one night on the way to their next show and they were talking about "If you could go back in time and ask one person one question - who and what?"
He stated that he would want to go back and ask Mary if she knew what her son would become some day. The things he would do and what price he would pay in the end.
A chilling thought if you think about it.
By far my favorite. :)
Good find, doll. :-)

Beautiful
I have always loved their singing.... great song.
i love this song.
thank you for sharing!
The song reminds me of Christmas time when my both my parents were still together and my grandparents were alive. Complete nostalgia.. lovely :)
There is a controversy about whether this IS a true story, as the battle of Belleau Woods happen during the summer. I truly don't care....its a beautifully moving song, considering the times.
Dedicated to the fighting Men and Women around the world....

awesome song..... I stand with your thoughts on the song.
When I was a child I was told of an incident during World War 1 where the Germans and British played football and sang together on xmax day.
Contrary to popular belief the armed forces would never of allowed such a thing because they feared the soldiers would not kill each other the next day.
Interesting that there is also an American version

It's a great version and is on my Xmas playlist .. love it!
My all time favorite song for the holidays.
This is my all time favorite version of this song and it's one of my favorites too. I've got this recording and play it ever season. I watched the show live when Bowie was on Crosby's christmas show, it was such a odd look the two of them singing together when they were polar opposites in everything else.

LordV and I have odd sense of humor. We love the classic 12 days of xmas, done here by the Muppets. (LordV's favorite) We also have different variations of it, depending on who you are. We have Redneck version, we have the Man's version, we have the Parents version and then we have the Emergency Personnel version
Enjoy, I hope that one of them tickles your fancy.
LordV and I enjoy all variety of music, from some classical to contemporary. Our variety expands, during the holidays, as we enjoy the Classic Christmas carols we were brought up on and the new ones that we learned to enjoyed.
For the next 25 days, you are welcome to come back and visit this journal, as it will house each day, a song that has meaning to either LordV or myself. We believe that its just not the holidays, without hearing these songs.
