Thanatos,
I feel you ride beside me on your Pale Horse
As you throw the black petals of a dead and broken love at my feet
To further drive deep the emptiness in my soul
The path before me lies desolate, a never ending horizon of nothing
Behind me only a tear filled stream of broken dreams
Lost and alone again I often wish for your touch, for you to claim me
A bride with a black veil
You ever wait for my hand with a noble grace
And always you have been with me, patiently awaiting acceptance
Dismounting you now stand in my path, arms open to my presence
The promise of your cold embrace warmer than the pain I carry in my heart
Your skeletal fingers caress my face; the sockets of your eyes reflect back the nothing in me
A formless mouth promises the kiss of Death
I lean into you- so tempted for the release from the pain that is life
Your arms around me, the cold of Deaths embrace numbs the ache in my heart
Your whisper “It is time to go my love”
Upon your Pale Horse I look back on my life and see the empty shell of what I was
………Broken
