Quote: "Some people are born with greatness, others have greatness thrust upon them"

My Response: I'll thrust my greatness upon you, that's for sure...

Don't EVER tell me to "tone it down". I'll be as offensive and rude as I damn well please, and you can either deal with it or get the hell out. You obviously have no fucking idea who you're dealing with, you pathetic waste.

Theosophic Levitation

14:22 Apr 03 2009
Times Read: 830

Is a crock of shit. Here's what their definition says:

Levitation (from Latin levis light in weight)

The act of rising in the air at will or unconsciously, in opposition to gravitation. However, theosophy does not view gravitation in the Newtonian sense, but sees in it magnetic attraction and repulsion.

Levitation is due to a change in the polarity of a body becoming identical with the polarity of the earth on which the body rests, which then repels the body or ceases to attract it. The height attained being dependent upon the strength or potentiality of the electric polar energy resident in the rising body. It is possible, and indeed easy, for the adept to change the polarity of his body at will.

In ancient Greece levitation was called aithrobates (from which aethrobacy), meaning the art of walking in the ether or air.

Now let's look at this piece by piece.

"However, theosophy does not view gravitation in the Newtonian sense,"

Neither does science. Gravity is not a force. It is a curvature of spacetime. Objects that are accelerated by gravity are traveling along a straight path in through curved space.

"but sees in it magnetic attraction and repulsion."

In other words, you see it incorrectly. There is no attraction or repulsion involved in gravity. Light is massless and has no polarity, yet it is affected by gravity, in that it bends around gravitational fields. Again, because it is traveling a straight path relative to itself.

Imagine if you will, a piece of paper illustrating a 2-dimensional spacetime. Place a spherical weight in the center and you get a curvature in the paper spacetime. Were you to take a pencil and then attempt to draw a straight line through the area affected by the weight (gravity) you would either A: draw what appears from above to be a straight line, or B: draw a curved arc, following the dip caused by the weight. If you did A, and then removed the weight and examined the line on a now-flat piece of paper, it would neither be a straight line nor a perfect arc. It would (probably) be a straight line, a backwards arc, then a straight line following the original path. However, if you did B (properly, of course), and then examined it on a flat page, it would turn out a perfect arc, ending in a straight line once the "gravitational field" was exited. The straight line would be smoothly curved. This is what happens with gravity on a 3-dimensional scale.

Note: if this description is incoherent (and it probably is. I'm tired), check out any documentary on Einstein and Relativity.

"Levitation is due to a change in the polarity of a body becoming identical with the polarity of the earth on which the body rests, which then repels the body or ceases to attract it. The height attained being dependent upon the strength or potentiality of the electric polar energy resident in the rising body."

There is no "polarity" to be changed. Gravity is not a polar force, nor is the body a polar object. What is being described is pure fantasy, based most likely on a several thousand-year-old outdated and WRONG interpretation of what gravity is.

"It is possible, and indeed easy, for the adept to change the polarity of his body at will."

Funny, that none of these "adepts" have ever stepped up to the plate and demonstrated their supposed ability under controlled conditions. There's a million dollars in it for them. Yet all we have are claims by people we'll never meet, many of whom want to sell you their book on the secret of levitation, and none of whom are willing to prove that they have even used their method successfully (because they haven't).

*facepalm*

I especially like the word-play: ""It is possible, and indeed easy, for the adept to change the polarity...blah blah blah....

See, if you can't levitate by changing your polarity, it's because you're either not adept at this skill, or you merely lack the will.

Certainly, it's not because it's physically impossible. You're just not trying hard enough.

(sarcasm)

I'm sure there's a book I can buy or an instructional DVD that must be purchased before I learn this skill.
