Today, there are many misconceptions about life. People put far too much emphasis on appearance alone. When what’s truly important is that all people are equal and no matter how unique someone seems, that person still breathes and lives like any other person on Earth. Appearance doesn’t necessarily mean what someone / something looks like, it can also mean how someone / something sounds or the way things seem regarding this person / thing.
This misconception, along with the assistance of American propaganda and stereotypes through its mass media, has led people to confuse the truth with what’s popular and what’s mainstream in America. This is something that the American mind, and minds in similar countries, has about what’s called the ‘emo’ fad, the ‘goth’ fad, and the true Gothic culture.
The Gothic culture goes as far back as 238 CE; when the earliest known record of the Gothic peoples was documented. The Goths originated in the southern parts of modern day Sweden and Norway. They eventually had migrated south to the eastern Germanic states as well as to western modern day Poland. The Goths, over time, split into separate tribes; two of the largest and most successful in history were the Visigoths and the Ostrogoths. The Goths played a crucial role in the first collapse of the Roman Empire.
In 376, the Romans invaded the land of the Goths to assimilate them to their empire. The Goths fought back and overwhelmed the Roman soldiers. For two years, from 378 to 379, the Goths continued to plunder much of the Romans’ territory with little resistance from the empire. However, by 381 the Romans regrouped and began pushing the Goths back further into Gothic territory. On 3 October, 382; the two sides made peace, ending the war.
Within a century; after Rome had been invaded by the Visigoths, Ostrogoths, and the Vandals; the western Roman Empire had collapsed, greatly weakening the rest of the empire. By 493, the Ostrogoths conquered the lands of modern day Italy as well as some north of that.
By 418, the Visigoths had conquered lands of modern day Portugal, Spain, and France.
The Franks pushed back the Visigoths’ territory to the modern day border of Spain in 507. By the end of the century, nearly all the Visigoth population had been converted to Catholicism. By 718, the Visigoth Kingdom had been conquered by the Moors.
By 535, the Roman Empire had regained some power in southeastern Europe and attacked the Ostrogoth Kingdom.
The Romans had conquered it within five years. The Goths continued to resist but were vanquished by 553. The remaining forces of the Goths had been pushed far north. However, the Goths continued to resist and invaded cities in the northern region until the last of the invasions were ousted by 560.
The culture would have been completely wiped out and forgotten like their language and their land if it hadn’t been for the Goths of Crimea.
The Ostrogoths had a kingdom north of the Black Sea throughout the 4th century. However, the Huns had migrated through this land and overwhelmed King Ermanaric of the Ostrogoth Kingdom. The Ostrogoths never returned to power in the region. However, they still resided there.
By the end of the 6th century, most Goths in Crimea had integrated with the Trinitarian Roman Church. After the church split, the Goths integrated with the Eastern Orthodox Church. Since then, the Goths and their culture remained and remained strong in Crimea. Many Goths by the 11th century had denounced christian beliefs and adopted either pagan beliefs, which they practiced underground, or atheist beliefs.
Goths had become known as an artistic and intelligent people in the turning point to the renaissance and contributed much to that era. Throughout the renaissance, Goths inspired the architectural style used in the Holy Roman Empire with the churches and other structures they’d built in the Crimean area. The culture also inspired art such as paintings and sculptures through the artwork they’d done in the centuries prior to the crusades.
The Gothic culture remained underground for centuries through modern times. After the fall of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806, the Gothic culture spread throughout Europe; mainly to its homeland of Norway and Sweden as well as the Germanic states. Today, in central and eastern Europe; the Gothic culture still thrives and many in these areas celebrate their ancient culture.
The Gothic culture inspired many different eras and movements in western Europe. The garb of the rich during the Victorian Era of Britain in the 1800s was inspired by old Gothic styles of the renaissance. Much of art in Britain during the 1800s; including poetry, painting, and sculpture; was inspired by old Gothic art in Eastern Europe.
The Art Nouveau era in France in the late 1800s to early 1900s was inspired by ancient Visigoth art during their rule in that area in the 500s.
The Gothic culture also influenced a post-modern fad that began in Britain in the 1980s known as ‘goth.’ However, the goth fad differs greatly from the Gothic culture of central an eastern Europe.
In the 1960s, the Anarchist movement had begun and many angst ridden teenagers became what is known as a punk. This movement started in Britain and spread, generally, west and south to countries like Portugal, France, Germany, and America. Throughout the 1970s the Anarchist movement remained strong but had made no progress. They invented a new genre of music known as Punk Rock. The Punk Rock genre created a new term amongst its listeners, hardcore; which meant to be unswervingly committed to the Anarchist movement.
In the mid 1980s, however, the Anarchist movement died out due to lack of progress. Out of the end of the Anarchist movement came the stubborn continuation of the hardcore fad, the post-hardcore fad, and the goth fad. The goth fad was the darker embodiment of the grievances of the end of the Anarchist movement. This fad incorporated the old Gothic inspired Victorian style of clothing along with the same clothing was worn by people from the Anarchist movement except was generally black or a darker colour.
This, then, incorporated--in the US--with American pop-culture horror movies which featured the portrayal of; vampires, werewolves, and ‘zombies.’ The fad also incorporated the 1950s counterculture known as greasers in Britain and the US. Much of the US and British pop-culture incorporated with this fad, including; children’s comic books, common superstition, hillbilly subculture, pro-American rhetoric, the ‘chic’ fad, biker subculture, and common American ‘values.’
Later in the 1990s, during the rising popularity of Japanese animation on American television, the goth fad incorporated commercial aspects of the post-modern Japanese culture. Out of this was the creation of a new fetish known as ‘furry.’ This is an animation type of fetish that involves a human that is also one-half animal doing something sexual by itself or with other ‘furries.’ This fad didn’t create any new genre. However, popular Alternative Rock bands like The Cure, Depeche Mode, Evanescence, KoRn, Nine Inch Nails, Disturbed, HIM, Dommin, etc. are commonly--and wrongfully--viewed as ‘gothic.’
The post-hardcore fad was the, more, emotional embodiment of the grievances of the end of the Anarchist movement. A new genre of music was born out of this fad, known as Post-hardcore; which, today, is commonly called ‘screamo.’ In the early 1990s, this fad went out of style. In the mid 1990s, the fad came back incorporated with the ‘skater’ fad and the old Rock and Roll fad of tight clothing. This fad was short lived, however, in the pop-cultured late 1990s.
In the early 2000s, the post-hardcore fad returned to fashion as all of the followers of the previous fad gravitated to this one. These people would incorporate new aspects to the fad creating new genres of music. One incorporation was between the Post-hardcore genre and pop-cultured modern rock; creating a new, more emotional version of Alternative Rock. The other incorporation was between Post-hardcore and pop-cultured hip-hop; creating Nu Metal.
Not only had the post-hardcore fad been incorporated with the pop-culture fad of the late 1990s, it had also been incorporated with the goth fad. The pop-culture fad was characterized by enthusiasm, narcissism, and the need for attention. In that time, depression had become a mental condition. People with the condition of depression were known to cut themselves purposely. The characteristic of the need for attention had been filled the observation of this and thus it became part of the fad to act depressed and cut oneself while the act public. It was the misconception of the goth fad that inspired the pursuit of such a sullen way of getting attention
Because of its emotional attributes, the post-hardcore fad was named after an amateur abbreviation of the word ‘emotional’; namely ‘emo.’ However, now the word ‘emo’ is rampantly used for name calling; often replacing the slang use of the word ‘pussy.’ Although the fad was originally known as the post-hardcore fad, by law of popularity; the fad is now known as the ‘emo’ fad.
Later on, the emo fad incorporated open homosexuality, whether or not it is fake. Some fake being homosexual merely to follow the fad. Others were homosexual people who began to follow the fad. Also later, Pop was incorporated with the emo-inspired Alternative Rock, Post-hardcore, and Rap to create a new genre of music known as ‘Crunk.’
Today, it seems that the incorporation of these fads are making the goth fad more emo and the emo fad more urban.
As it is, many confuse Gothic culture with today’s fads in the US and western Europe. However, the Gothic culture has survived through the Roman Empires, the Ottoman Empire, and the British Empire; and it certainly won’t be swayed by the American Empire. The true Gothic culture still thrives in central and eastern Europe, in opposition to the empire as it was in centuries passed.
In the early years of America, there was only newspapers. There was only one mentality at the beginning of America: White power through American pride. The media, at that time, told news and views from the only one perspective of life in the American colonies. This continued through the first part of the 1900s.
Music, during the early 1900s, was controlled by the mainstream culture of America. In that time, if a band didn't become "popular enough" they would eventually cease to exist. Once there is a new thing for the mainstream to move onto, the old genre that was popular would be dropped and most ceased to exist. There was also next to no underground in that time because of that.
The invention of the radio gave people a chance to hear the news and hear music. At that time there was only American Folk, Jazz, and the Blues and few other genres. Most of it was strictly christian. One form of American Folk was able to persist thanks to radio. That genre is Country.
With the invention of the Television came the rise of Rock and Roll which spawned new genres and subgenres of Rock. Most of it, still, was primarily christian considering there was still only one viewpoint of American life. However, thanks to Television; the counter-culture was able to adopt Rock after it fell from popularity to the Mainstream Pop-culture.
The Coutner-culture grew and grew until in the late 1960s, counter-culture had become its own mainstream. Then, in the early 1980s, came MTV {Music Television} which started as a channel that brought underground bands to light for their chance at fame. However, if the mainstream counter-culture didn't approve and one band didn't become "popular enough" they would not be able to make music anymore because of a lack of support.
Even in this time, it was rare for an underground band to keep making music because most never gained enough support. However, the underground was starting to hold its own a little better as the years progressed. Underground rap emerged in the 1980s and persisted because of all its support in large cities; which was where it usually was started. The same would go for underground Punk Rock, which grew the fastest in the 1980s.
However, the newest invention of media distribution, the internet has offered more unique ideas and more support for those bands who don't get "famous." This has allowed more artistic and legitimate bands, who aren't making music for money, to emerge. As more support is gained for underground bands, it may either create a third mainstream or it will remain underground; available for those who like legitimate music.
Although, it is more likely for the latter of the two paths underground could go simply because the government keeps the media controlled through the FCC and through social control over its colonies abroad and its people on the mainland. This is because they don't want ideas so unique and as influential as those of the underground to become mainstream. The US government uses a similar method of control over religion and gender. They are enemies of art and they are only keeping the world of art that much more legitimate by keeping it private for the truly artistic and hopeful who haven't conformed under their social control.
With the internet, newer and better ideas are spreading. A more legitimate culture can rise without being confronted by the once dominant ideals of christianity and American white supremacy. The Mainstream counter-culture will always remain because this is America. Ignorance, arrogance, pride, greed, and disregard are flaunting in this country. All that the new generations can do is band together and stay together, not just in opposition to the two mainstreams but in rebellion and secession from their ways and beliefs as well.
I feel this is more modern and up to date, to agree more with christian-Amerikkka's agenda:
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the Imperial States of christian-Amerikkka and
to the Republic with which it conquers,
one Empire under god, infallible,
with justice and profit for the ruling class."
In my second rant, I ask the question of what is people's problems with shy people. Well, the answer is quite simple. Part of attracting a mate is jumping through all the necessary hoops and doing all the necessary mating calls to do so properly.
For a female, shyness isn't much of a problem. In fact, a lot of men don't mind a shy woman. This is because our animal instinct says that a shy girl is easily submissive, something that we as animals search for to become dominant in life.
Shyness for a man is a different story. For one thing the instinct says that shyness is linked with submissive. And what female wants a submissive mate? {Disclaimer: Yes, there are some who do} Another problem with this is that the animal instinct of the human dictates that the man must seek the female and often compete for her approval. Not usually the other way around. To get a females attention so that you can go after her is to be outgoing. Use your mating-call, as they would say in the animal kingdom.
Yes--without being outgoing {mating call}, money {survival resources}, and / or fighting ability {win fights to win the female} then you're bound to have trouble being happy. After all, the key to life is the opposite sex; the drive to mate.
It's been a while since I've been on this website and I've learnt a lot since my last visit.
To answer my own question:
Humankind isn't as civilised as I was raised to believe. I've taken a look around {and have watched some documentaries about apes, chimpanzees, and of other mammals and animals} and I've learnt that humans are still as instinctual and basic as anything else in the animal kingdom. The only difference being that we've managed to modernise the way we react to our baser instincts.
The vehicle, an innovation of transportation from the domination of the horse. The internet, making it quicker and easier to attract a mate; and more of them in shorter amounts of time. Money, the equivalent to survival equipment.
Everything we do today is nothing more than an innovation built around our baser instincts. Rather than try to become independent from those instincts, we've found ways to satisfy them much easier.
That being said, in regards to the original post this is about, our everyday lives still resemble the animal kingdom. Why does every male have to be "manly?" Because in the animal kingdom, the female often seeks out the male who's most dominant. It is well known that women like an assertive man. This is because deep down, she seeks a man who asserts himself as alpha male.
This, I find, is why so many women cheat. They're constantly searching for the alpha male. If she find a more dominant male than the one she is "with", she goes for the most dominant. It is not a human's nature to stay with just one partner in life. The same goes for men. The most dominant men are likely to cheat because it is in their nature to take whatever female comes to them to mate.
Please note that this is not in every case. And I find that there are some decent people who don't succumb to their baser instincts as most. And its progressing in that way. However, a majority of people are still very primal. And a majority of people are this way in life.
Ever wonder why women post naked photos of themselves online? "Why would they degrade themselves like that?" you may ask. But the answer is no farther than the animal kingdom. The internet is certainly a wonder to behold. We gain information faster. We gain entertainment from it. And of course, we now use it to attract / find a mate.
In the animal kingdom, the female is usually the one who will have the opposite sex come to her. Humans are very similar in this respect. And what easier and more effective way to attract as many males as possible as fast as possible than using the internet? Women can attract thousands of men if just a day by putting suggestive photos {nude or otherwise} online for all to see.
In the animal kingdom, males will compete with males for a female; and females will compete in their own way with other females for a male. This works similarly in the animal kingdom. This is why women are so vindictive toward each other so much. And men fight all the time to impress a woman.
So yes, a man must be manly to attract mates. At least if he doesn't want some kind of desperate, inept, or manic woman. None of which is desirable because our instincts tell us that you must find a good woman to produce good children. Which is actually kind of true even in a civilised sense.
