The Second World War officially began on September 1, 1939, with the German invasion of Poland. Britain and France declared war on the Nazi Third Reich on September 3, 1939.
Seven days later, on September 10, 1939, the Parliament of Canada likewise declared war on Germany, the country's first independent declaration of war and the beginning of Canada's participation in the largest combined national effort in its history.
By war's end, 1 million citizens would have served in military uniform, and Canada would possess the fourth largest air force and third largest surface fleet in the world.

I'm going to climb a mountain for the first time next weekend. This is one of those "must do before you die" things!
I'm nervous but excited at the same time - I am fit enough do it, but just hope some of the trickier terrain isn't too much for me. This mountain has an arret (very sharp ridge) which just looks terrifying!
Wish me luck!
President Obama is in the UK just now. It's funny how the odious little politicians are desperate for a bit of halo effect. The Royal family don't need that so can greet and entertain him with grace.

Note to America from the UK - it is now tomorrow and the world is still here

To many lol
We have more in common than I ever realized haha.
Houses:
Madadh Alluidh
La Bella Oscuridad
Covens:
Fallen Souls of Sorrow
La Rose Noire
BOHEMIA!!
Vampyre Lovers
I can't even remember if that's been all of them for me.. I think it has been though :)
Oh Gad, I can't remember the names... but yea, I have been in .. umm,. Eternal, the house with the owl in it, Images hubby's coven, Moonies coven existere, and of course Umbrae Octo. :)
I've started going to church again - it's to help provide a strong moral foundation for my little one. I don't believe it's incompatible with an interest in vampires. That lore started in medieval Bohemia which after all was a Christian society.
(Paganism was on a break ;-))

we've had some interesting election results in the UK this week
Could Scotland be dragged away from the Union??????
Nope - the Scottish National Party who have moved from a minority administration to a majority are generally regarded as doing an OK job. There isn't that much support for independence, but against the backdrop of a Conservative-led, cuts-focussed Westminster parliament, a party who are Scotland-focussed is an attractive proposition. Labour are pretty inept at the moment and the Lib Dems are being hit because of the coalition at Westminster. That also aids the SNP's share of the vote.
The SNP also don't have a mandate for a binding referendum - they can have one to gauge opinion but it would have no legal right to be enforced.
The elections have been interesting - the Conservatives are the ones driving the cuts agenda, but the Lib Dems are taking the hit. In our area, in the last election the Lib Dems were expected to take our seat (didn't) and in the council election this week they came fourth behind the BNP (far right party)
I'm looking for my old coven members
I've found an ACM so far
LeananSidhe hasn't been on since 2008 lol
Salem not since Feb this year
I ran a second coven after Bohemia for a bit called Corvinus but the buzz had gone
Now, do I want/need a Mentor?
COMMENTS
You don't need one. Most mentor's don't even do much these days. It boosts your score by about a level. But if you search hard enough you can find one worth joining. The same could be said about Covens.
You can join one just for the boost and ignore it... it can only be beneficial.
Whoops deleted all my old coven artwork a while back

Bin Laden is dead. I'm not convinced about the potential for large scale reprisals. Al-Qaeda as far as I can tell is a top-down ideological movement - exactly the kind of structure that will suffer from this kind of decapitation event. It's not a hydra - more of an ivy. It may be perfidious and broad in its scope, but you really have to get it at the core of its operation to destabilise and ultimately eliminate the rest.
Good work America. Of course if you'd left it to the SAS he'd have been gone ages ago ;-)

I used to be coven master (Bohemia) but I signed off and haven't been on VR in a long time.
There are too many covens now - when I joined VR initially there were a handful and they were kind of respected.
It misses that 3D noughts and crosses game which rocked lol
How's it going?!
COMMENTS
Well, hiii :) welcome back!
same 'old'; but still worth being here.
LOL! I just noticed that there were a ton of covens now...I'm too lazy to count, but there has to be more than 60...
