I wrote the story for another site I belong to. A friend and I spent a few days bouncing idea's back and forth. Got a rough outline of the first paragraph, as I've had writers block lately, and then the words began to flow. I've been adding onto this in class.
Enjoy
...I need a name for the female character in the last paragraphs...something evil.
Suoh wandered through the barren hills of the country side. The hills rolled high and low, disguising almost anything hidden beneath the treetops that grew at the base of them. The trees made a forest which seemed to have many gaps. As Suoh walked on, he discovered a cave nestled in the side of hill. The entrance was nothing but an opening made of rock of all different shapes and sizes. As he entered the cave, the rock walls seemed to turn to marble, leading to an archway. Reaching the arch, Suoh could feel warm air around it. Brave as he was Suoh passed through the mysterious archway. A bright light blinded him as he made his way through the atrch to the pther side. When he opened his eyes he found an expansive realm filled with many creatures no known to man. Dragons romaed freely in this hidden realm. Within mountains, the streams and oceans, in the clouds and the sky, mist and shadows, the desert and grassy plains. The first dragon he found himself face to face with was Ryu. Suoh immediately found himself bounded to the large dragon. Suoh learned that this realm was a peaceful one, but it was not without disease and fights, like the human realm. But the dragon realm somehow had a more serene feel to it. No technology surrounded the realm, it was a place where dragons were able to roam freely without worrying about what would happen tomorrow. As Suoh became more intrigued in the dragon race he decided to stay, to watch over the dragon race. As time went on, and Suoh learned of all the different species. He noticed how lonely some seemed, while Ryu always seemed content. One day while the two were out for a stroll along the rolling hills, Suoh questioned the mighty dragon. Through the dragons mind he learned that there had once been a time when the dragons lived side by side with the humans. Eventually the advancing human technology drove the dragons away. They sealed themselves away from the humans.
Of course when there are new changes in a realm, there are always those who apose them. The dragons realm was no exception to this. Some dragons began to regret their actions. Some grew bitter, some indifferent, others happy the humans were gone and some sad that they had left. When the dragons has severed their bonds with the human realm, casting out all humans, one family grew bitter. Through the centuries they spent cut off in the human realm, they held onto their grudge. Angered by that fateful choice made by the dragon Ryu. Not long after Suoh broke the seal between the realms, did they realize what had been undone.
“The seal is broken…” She hissed as a wicked grin graced her lips. With that thought she ran into the basement. She fetched her training weapons, a large broad sword, yew long bow and a quiver of hand made arrows. With her things gathered, she headed to the old archway in the side of the mountain. The story had been passed down in her family for centuries about the archway in the mountain. That at one time it had lead to the dragon realm. Now with the seal broken it would once again lead there. She made here way through the old broken arch. She soon arrived at the base of the flaming mountains she had been told time and time again about, but thought she would never see herself. “Just as I was told, now, what was that dragon’s name…”
’Where you looking for me?’ The voice quietly curled through the girls mind, lingering there for a moment as she looked around. Whipping around she came face to face with a large vicious looking red dragon. With a small gasp she stumbled, backing away from the beast. Wicked laughter rang through her mind. The sounds of heavy chains shifting followed the dragons’ movements. Taking a step to the side she saw that the dragon was chained down to the mountainside. Heavy shackles encircled her back legs, and a thick collar clasped around her neck. ’Now my child, free me from my chains. I know why you are here, and what you desire.’ The voice coiled its’ way through her mind once again, tempting her to help the beast. Yet another wicked grin curled her lips as she advanced towards the dragon. ’My neck first please. Came the voice again Pulling the sword from her back, leaving the bow and quiver where they were. With a quick downward slash, she smashed through the middle of the chain, freeing the beasts’ neck. With a triumphant roar the dragon rose to its’ full height, stretching her wings. She moved towards the shackles at the dragons feet as the beast pulled slightly at the chains. After a few more slashes, a miss, and some sparks the dragon was now freed. Smiling wickedly the girl placed her hand on the dragons’ wing, looking up at er. "Well Rissa, looks like this is just the begining..."
