I was raised to believe that there was indeed a life after death. That once we die, we go to a higher place, that our spirit is preserved in another dimension of reality, a heaven, or a hell.
As I get older I find myself questioning this, is it a viable theory? Heaven and Hell? Or is it just a good way to scare young children into obeying everything they are told for fear of going to such a wretched place? I believe that it is the latter.
Heaven, Hell..... They do not exist. At least not in my mind. A residual energy signature is left behind on everything we have ever owned, touched, or come in a initial contact with, a particular building we felt extremely drawn to in life, we may leave an energy signature there.
Certain objects that we treasured in life, when disturbed by another may reveal our hidden energy signatures. This is what I view ghosts as. They are not the intelligent spirits of human beings past.
If the day comes that I am proven wrong about this, and I meet a ghost and can see for myself that it is in fact intelligent and not simply residual energy, I will again, as I have many times now, re-think my theories. For now though, I believe that after we die, we do not go anywhere, it is simply absence. Oblivion.

I'm not sure where I stand on this very important question. I'm still not sure if I believe in God. (I guess I'm more or less an agnostic). I do think that we - mankind - create our own Heaven and Hell here on earth.
