The last entry was meant to be titled as an homage to the muse who inspired it. By the time I realized the title was missing for some reason, I already had comments. (I also typo'd "Lillian" by forgetting an "l".)

It should have been titled,

"Between the Sacred and the Profane."

Tracing raindrops

With my fingertips,

Winding down the windowpane,

Watching barefoot children

Splashing in sidewalk puddles

At sunset, and she is there

Suspended in the spray,

Refracted in dancing droplets.

In sparkling silence

Stories in her eyes

And songs on her lips

To stir the steam

From my cinnamon tea,

Fogging the windowpane,

Conspiring with breath

To cloud my view

From what is

To what might be.

What should be...

Her stories and mine

Pouring from pens

Dipped in the inkwells

Of deliverance and devilry

To author our skins

And create our own souls

Beyond the windowpane

Inside the raindrops,

Masquerading as our true selves

And this dance

Is our dance.
