This is what you need-
an addiction, money, greed,
and a spoon to feed your leeches.
This is what you need-
fast cars, money, and honeys.
This is what you need,
a smile, a scarf, and a gun.
And while you need these things
do not forget your want
of a sewing machine to
double stitch on your smile
that will meet the good graces
of the most critical jury- you.
I'm selfless and selfish-
an odd dichotomy made up of words,
Too many words.
To solicit smiles,
my words create fanatical delights
filled with childhood secrets whispered in the dark
to never see the light of day.
And, for tears, my ancient words stumble about
avoiding strife and struggles, but not the fight.
My right words are always hopping the fence
to join the left words.
And the left words are always hopping the fence to join the right words.
And all of my words are always crossing paths,
meeting in the middle,
saying a little greeting,
doing the song and dance,
before leaving,
on there way to one side,
of my dichotomy.
Too many words.
And all of my truths are lies,
and lies are truths,
and assertions are false,
and life events- fiction,
and stories - newsworthy.
Too many words.
I opened the door
but was overwhelmed
by bloody hands
grabbing at my skin.
So up to the highest point- I ran.
And the bottom fell out.
And the hands fell in.
And I could not stand.
And I could not breath.
And the fiery hands dug into my flesh.
And as I died, tears rolled down my cheeks.
Like a ghost,
you walk and talk,
and warm the air,
and with one look,
I melt.
No name,
only a face,
barely a word,
that I know.
But I like what little I saw,
ghost.
Look my way,
one day soon.
Do windows become doors
when someone steps through?
Do doors become windows
when someone looks through?
Does a question become a poem,
and a poem become a song,
when my heart drums along-
side every word and whispers
the words in my ear: "I am."
And all the words exclaim: "I am."
And they sing and dance
And sing and dance and
louder
and louder and louder until
they are uttered by someone
that knows what they are
and what they are saying
and that someone says "I am."
