A week ago, I went and interviewed for a new position in the company that I work for. I was informed at the last possible moment that I was sheduled, and I rushed there as soon as I could. I managed to arrive 10 minutes early.
I was interviewed and all went well, until the 'role-playing' second half of it. I am not too good at role-playing so I made the best of it and did my best. Once done I thanked my two interviewers for their time and I left the room feeling I blundered it up. I left to return to my job believing I wasn't good enough.
Well, it I got a call from my manager just an hour ago informing me that I had gotten the job. It appears I had one of the highest interview scores of the few who also interviewed for the position. :)
So for 2008, I look forward to being a Merchandising Execution Associate. The job entails travelling to the different stores in the district and resetting product and then giving the store associates product knowledge on these new items. The company is doing a test on seeing if a crew of our own can do a better job than the third party companies which we have been using. I love to travel and this allows me to do that, besides they're paying me mileage which is on top of the pay I will normally receive. So, all in all, it is seems like a worthwhile venture for me.
I am pleased.
You know I have thought about something because of the "making of" video on the CD single for "Vampires are alive" by DJ Bobo.
DJ Bobo was speaking in Swiss.... and even tho it is German, it is a unique dialect that's like for you, if you heard someone from 1000 years ago speaking the English of that time, it sounds like English, but you really have a hard time understanding what a person is saying. That's what Swiss German sounds like to me.
It got me thinking, when Vampires go to sleep, say for 1000 or more years at a time, when they wake up, the language will have changed somewhat. So vampires will go through the same effect as listening to their familiar language only with a new dialect which is difficult to understand at first.
I presume therefore, that Vampires must first have to deal with getting a grasp on the language of the time. Especially if a neighbouring country has, in that elapsed time, taken over that part of land.
Imagine if you will living on the US border with Mexico and some time in the future after your 500 year sleep, you wake up and find yourself in a Mexican city of Los Angeles, California and everyone speaks Spanish.
Just something to think about.
