interpreting the dream

i sent this as a message to sinora, and am copying it here. i rarely take the time to really interpret dreams, but in the situation i'm in; a high speed transition, this is a good idea.

---

hm. a decapitated screaming head? really it signifies the frustration that i'm feeling with a certain managerial issue at work; basically a loser who abuses FMLA and can't be written up for shitty performance. He's got terrible mood swings, displays all the symptoms of a potential threatening persona who might actually get violent at some point in time, and yet gets away with everything due to FMLA and the company fearing a lawsuit if we fire him.

but really? murder is a doozy in a dream and dead bodies mean a lot of things. mostly murder is the mind's way of dealing directly with someone or something that frustrates us. i wasn't the murderer, but the symbol came up in the form of the decapitated body.

gates in dreams, like the prison gate in my dream, signify passage. the gate was open, which is an indication of readiness to proceed. BUT coupled with the fact that a decapitated head was in the doorway? wow... that's a new one for me.

i see it as a direct correlation to this particular work problem. i'm ready to proceed and move forward, but this frustrating thing is in the way. something that is really an ill omen in a way.

dreaming of women in a dream is open to interpretation, mostly depending upon how the dreamer feels about the women. in this case, the woman was a co-worker who i never really saw. of far greater interest is the security guard who went through the gate, took no notice of the body or the head and turned down the hallway. she looks back and smiles mysteriously. some traditionalists say that seeing women in a dream can be a sign of treachery in the road ahead. i see it in this dream as almost a dare to step beyond the obstacle and continue on through. she's a security guard, a non-traditional role for a woman, which makes it even more interesting. she should be a sign of safety. in the dream i didn't feel afraid of her at all. but i briefly remember feeling very incredulous that she made no note of the dead body she had just walked past or the head she had just walked by.

the symbols together could be interpreted as "this big thing that i am seeing in front of me that is causing so much frustration is really nothing to be that concerned about... however, be careful how you proceed".

in terms of the room itself? one of the main features is the overhead lamp. lamps are a symbol of enlightenment; of finding answers in the dark. depending upon how bright the light, the more of the answer you will find. this lamp lit up a fairly large room, so perhaps because this is in front of the gate, this means that an answer will come clear and that will allow me to see my way through the gate and how to proceed.

in terms of the body? the hair on the head is long and matted and the rope is attached to the hair. this type of hair in a dream is traditionally a symbol of wisdom... on the head of a dead man is an interesting twist.

the fact that there is no blood is also interesting. seeing blood in a dream can symbolize difficulty in a business relationship. no blood at all rather neatly suggests and throws back to the "this really isn't a big deal" and there really is no blockade to moving forward.

Decapitated head

14:15 Jun 18 2008
Times Read: 652

I have for the last two nights had a series of strange dreams. This morning it dawned on me that I should be writing these down, especially considering the time of transition I’m going through.

I don’t remember the entirety of the dream, but it was me and another woman. We are both investigators, CSI style, and our responsibility is to dissect human bodies for evidence.

I can’t remember what she looked like in the dream. And there was another man in the room where we were working.

We were working on a really hot case in which there was a murderer loose in the city. Our work lab was in a dungeon. There were iron bars with gates that were open at the entry way. Behind us and our lab was a metallic door that slid open. I remember thinking it looks like the setting of Deep Ground in the game Crisis Core, only rather than being run down, this dungeon was rather new. There is a single suspended large metal lamp above our table, which is also medical grade metal. It, however, has no wheels and is immobile. The room is very large and the walls are red rock, which is red from the iron in the rock and is another emphasis of the metal feel of the room. There are other fluorescent lights other than our work lamp, but they aren’t visible and they light our room. The floor is cement and level. There are a few metal lockers and cabinets throughout the room, but for its size the room is remarkably empty.

While we are dissecting a body from this recent case, the man in the room says very nervously, “Look, another body has turned up.” He leaves.

I look up at the entry way that has the open prison door and there is a decapitated head hanging in the entry, tied with a rope by the hair. The man’s eyes are closed, but the mouth is wide open. He appears to be middle aged and his hair is strawberry blond. The body underneath the head is bloodless, as there is no blood at all in this dream. I don’t remember how it was spread out, but the body was wearing a canary yellow shirt and green canvas cargo style pants and white tennis shoes.

The woman next to me exclaims, “Wow. He had his head cut off by a long knife and it really, really hurt.”

At that moment, the metal door behind us starts sliding open and we turn quickly to see a black woman with long braids in a ponytail come walking through. She is a security guard and is wearing the dark blue/ white shirt uniform of the people I see at work every day. Her walkie-talkie squelches something that I don’t catch and she walks out right under the decapitated head, not seeming to notice the head. She turns to the right and starts down the hall outside the iron gate and smiles mysteriously at us before leaving the area. She hadn’t acknowledged me and the other woman prior to this.

I tell the other woman, “If I was her and had to walk around in here, I’d be scared.”

The dream ends.
