It's so easy to forget -
What you give is what you get.
And when you get it back from me you get it in spades.
Success born of anything less than hard work comes with the fear of losing what was never rightfully gained in the first place.
No one succeeds in life who lives in fear. Fearlessness is first the will to proceed in spite of conditions, and then it becomes a consciousness fixed in us that is beyond conditions. Real success is a fearless state of being in a conscious relationship with an Intelligence that always achieves its ends in spite of changing conditions.
The success that our present nature looks for is to try to find some point in our life where we're able to put together conditions outside of us sufficiently enough so that we feel fearless. The only way we know to try to achieve this success is by attaching ourselves to something that we imagine, and by the very fact that we've done that, we become dependent upon what we've imagined remaining in place -- which means that we're right back to having a life that has fear in it.
The more we imagine success, the more fearful we become, and the more fearful we become because of ideas, images, and people in our lives which we say have to remain in place, the more we resist change in them. The more we resist change, the more static we become as a human being.
..doesn't automatically make you "cool".
Liking Star Wars is great. Understanding it takes a person with a real compassion for others.
You are no Jedi if you don't hold others dear and sense that your response and consideration to those around you is key to good relations and peace.
Do you guard and protect peace or do you enjoy stirring up strife?
Something to think about before I have to write yet another rebuttal.
As a Jedi you must always oppose those who revel in evil and seek power for the sake of power. They are the plague on society that the Jedi seek to cure. In the absence of the Jedi, evil will thrive.
In the presence of just one Jedi, evil will evaporate.
What the Force allows you to do also conferees upon you a great burden. To act without forethought and due deliberation is no longer possible. You have to be very certain of what you are doing, for a single misstep could be a disaster. While you may make mistakes, you have to do everything you can to minimize the impact.
It is not enough to do the greatest good for the greatest number, you have to do what is best for everyone. There is no walking away from the new responsibility you accept. You might well choose when and where to reveal who and what you are, but there is no forgetting, no leaving that responsibility behind.
Your commitment to others has to be total and complete. You are an agent of the Force every day, every hour, every second; for as long as you live, and then some.
I promise to uphold the Jedi Code.
I promise to respect all life and to help those weaker than myself.
To use the Force only for good; never in anger; only to defend those who cannot defend themselves; to find new ways to improve myself so that I may be an example to others.
To give Guidance to those that seek it; While not seeking to lead or rule them.
Random kindness...I started thinking about this subject the other day, when I noticed a young man stop to help a woman struggling with a baby stroller. I was touched that the young man had taken the time to stop and help, and the woman was obviously grateful. You just know that the young man felt some satisfaction from his good deed. So there were at least three of us who were somehow affected by one person's small act of kindness.
When you think about it, kindness requires awareness - of others around you and the environment. It takes you out of yourself, and allows you to make contact with someone or something outside of your own concerns and worries. It also just simply makes you "feel good." No wonder it's been a part of practically every religion in the world. It does so much, not only for the recipient, but also for the giver. As the Chinese philosopher Lao Tse has said:
Kindness in words creates confidence.
Kindness in thinking creates profundity.
Kindness in giving creates love.
Kindness goes beyond simple courtesy. It's what William Wordsworth described as the best part of a person's life - their "little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love."
