I'm usually more social here, and lately, I haven't been. I'll log on for a bit in lurking mode, do some things that I should do, do some other things that I want to do, then I log off.

I'm worried about my mom, and I still don't know what's going on with the service for Rudy. (The man's body is still in the morgue, as far as I know. Good grief).

A lot is going on in my life, and with some of it, I don't know what to do, or what the hell I'm doing...which is rare for me, as I'm usually very focused - even when stuff is sucky.

The only saving grace (for my sanity) has been writing, and I honestly think that as of late, I'm spending too much time with that. I should be taking that pharm tech state exam soon. I've been studying a lot, yet I feel that I will fail. Not a great feeling.



As far as the writing: My character Huey, from The Diary of Isis was actually created before I even joined VR. I wrote a short story featuring him, and worked his character into the on-going novel here. Anyway, I went back to his story, filled it out more, edited it, and connected it to another short story about another fallen angel. Now, I got it where I'll write about two more angels, and incorporate all of their stories into one novel. So now, I'm gonna' do a bit of research on the Spanish arrival and colonization of the New World. I always seem to end up making something small-scaled into something much bigger. LOL. I guess I can't help myself.



And a tiny excerpt from Huey's story:



I don’t blame us for the way we are. If there is something wrong with us, it is God’s fault, not ours.



But… there were times when Huey wanted to be left alone. Sometimes, he just couldn’t be bothered by the women’s demands or his own needs. His memories would torture him to the point where no amount of sexual encounters and blood would ease his soul…



The proprietor of the general store got use to Huey picking up packages of condoms every month. He wondered if the child-like young man knew how to use them. As far as he knew, the big dummy still played with toy trucks.

What a week.

The headache I had off and on since Wednesday is finally gone. The aches and pains are still holding on to me with a kung-fu grip though.

At least I got all my stuff done yesterday: cleaning, shopping, and laundry.



Work was as it usually is - a pain in the ass, with some ha-has thrown in. Boss #2 and I had to literally hold back the other contract employee (the newest one, Lana) to keep her from going over to kick Big Momma's ass.

Yes - Big Momma is STILL employed with the college. And she is still a major fuck-up. But what makes everyone really angry - and is also what set Lana's teeth on edge - is how utterly lazy the fat bitch is. Not being able to do some things because you are over 450 lbs does not mean that you can take several 'mini-breaks' throughout the day, leaving everyone else to finish your tasks.

So - when Big Momma decided to get her 2nd - 3rd hot cocoa from the machine, stand behind it, and casually drink - leaving shit unfinished - Lana blew a gasket. Don't blame her, really. I was in the office/store room getting supplies while Boss #2 was finishing up deposits for me to look over, then take to the cashier's office; Lana stormed in with "I'm gonna' kick that fat bitch's ass if she don't quit fuckin' around! I am serious! Why is she always standing around, watching the rest of us work? What the fuck!" Lana threw a pen on the desk, muttering that she should take it and shove it in Big Momma's jugular. She was pacing back and forth, and Boss #2 gently pushed her down in a chair. When she looked at me I repeated back to her something that she mentioned "Yeah. Moral here sucks. And it appears that the main trigger needs to be addressed." She was out the door in a flash, to go speak with Big Momma. A lot of good it will do though. The only thing that will make Big Momma take her job seriously is if she is threatened with losing it. (I personally think that she should try to go on disability, as she can't do the stuff the job requires her to do, and I don't see her working anywhere else, so...)

Anyway, all was calmed on the western front for the rest of that particular day.

I see more storms on the horizon though.

It sounds pretty bad; not forgetting to mention awful. I know what it's like to be threatened with losing the job... It is not pleasant. It's borderline ridiculous... Especially when the reality should be that the employer should be the one who requires the work of the employee. Perhaps you could try a petition? Hope this helps. *hugz*

That was my initial response at 3:20 this morning, when I was unceremoniously shaken from my sleep.

The shaking and waving seemed to take forever to stop. (Well - I got more deep waves than shakes). I just sat in bed, thinking "Okay. You can stop now..."

I noticed that nothing fell from the walls or the bookcase, so I got up to check the kitties and the rest of the apartment. The cats were all chillin'...lol Surprisingly, not one thing was out of place...which was weird, considering how strong the quake was, and the fact that I also live on the second floor of an apartment building that was built in the 1920's.

Lucky me!



When I turned on the TV immediately after the quake, there was no news - just paid adds on every channel. So, I went back to sleep. When I got up later, to feed the cats, I turned the TV on, and saw a disaster. The Sonoma wine country is just north of the Bay Area. The quake was a 6.0 or a 6.1 (They're still trying to pinpoint it. A quake is 10x more as the point factor goes up). The really bad quake of 1989 was a 6.9...now, that was a Hollywood disaster movie in the making.



Anyway, while watching the news, I saw burning mobile homes, destroyed wineries (now there's a source of revenue that the state can't afford to lose), crumbling buildings and rubble in downtown Napa, a huge deep crack across a road, cars crushed like aluminum cans, etc. But what is the scariest thing is the fact that there are countless broken water and gas lines.

So far, there are three very serious injuries - one victim is a little boy, who I believe was airlifted here to the Bay Area, to Oakland's Children's Hospital. And there are no deaths...thank God. Well - as far as anyone knows as of right now, anyway.

Still not sure with what's going on with my mom's friend's death. His remains are suppose to be returned up here, and another family friend is working on the service. I've no updated news, so I'm clueless.

I've been spending most of my time on the phone with my mom, trying to console her and her non-stop crying. Dammit - I wished that she had remained living up here.



As far as work...this week was busy, and we don't even have everything available yet. And Big Momma is STILL A FUCK-UP. I'm so damn tired. I can tell that this semester will be a complete circus in HELL...the very first day of school, some asshole set the toaster on fire. Flames were shooting up almost two feet in the air. Carlo (a cool maintenance guy) just happened to be nearby, and he put the fire out. A minute more, and all of the sprinklers would've turned on. Good grief...

I may be offline for 1 - 2 days; death of a close family friend.

In a crappy mood.

I had an appointment with the heart clinic yesterday. My CHF is hardly bothering me much, thank God. I still have to take the meds though. What is pissing me off is the fact that I AM FAT!



All of the weight I lost since 2008...is all back, plus one more goddamn pound. Makes we kinda' wish that I still had my fucked up gallbladder, which was causing the earlier weight loss. (Eeer....maybe not, as I had some painful times with that tiny lil' organ)



I look - and really feel -like Jabba the Hut. I know that my diet hasn't been the best for the last 2 months (Hey, when funds are down, you eat what you can afford), but really? Ugh.



I went walking after brunch today. Yeah brunch, as I slept late. My usual pace is pretty fast, but as the joints were aching, no doubt due to the HUGE POUNDS OF FAT on my delicate bone structure (and the onset of arthritis), I was walkin' kinda' slow. But...I did walk. All 6,761 steps, according to my pedometer. Still not enough, but I'll get to 10,000 soon - I hope.



I'll probably log on tomorrow, if my normally friendly demeanor returns.

Right now - I just want to kick myself in the ass. No - scratch that. I can't do that, especially as of right now. I'll be lucky to lift my fat ass leg off of the floor.



I'm gonna' go write, and try not to feel sorry for myself now.

The last few days of chats included:

Karate, archery, and yoga; the current crop of trolls on VR; Yes - I really am 53 years old; fruit trees and other stuff that we grow in our yards; baking bread; elderly parents and their concerns; and the love of kitties!

For the life of me, I could never understand why women fight over men...

It's not like there is only one man around for every fifty women. (And even if that was the case...have some damn pride).



Why make complete fools out of yourselves over a guy who most likely doesn't give a shit about either one of you?

If a man no longer wants to be with you, is it logical to go after his new lady, to fight?

No - not logical. Quite stupid, in fact. And so, so embarrassing. Whatever minute bit of class you had just flew out of the window.



I don't get it. And I'm glad that I don't.

Many years ago I was in this situation where I was seriously dating a guy who told me he'd broken up with his ex... then found out she was moving to our town and they were picking things back up. He was "confused" and not sure what to do. Since the answer wasn't instantly choosing me, I backed out of that QUICK. There was no fighting- I knew right away, even after his "confusion" if he decided it was to be me, I'd never be able to forget I wasn't a clear choice. There was no future there.

Last night I was browsing the net for black & white photographs of male nudes. On occasion, I can find some really artistic, tasteful images. Unfortunately though, many times I have to weed through a lot of actually disgusting images to find one or two good ones. (Funny how I specifically state black and white photos, yet the internet gives me color images of...everything. Ugh).

I sail through the stuff quickly, as I'm not interested in gay porn and the like.



I ended up on some guy's Tumblr profile, and I almost threw up. After flipping quickly through some images, I came upon one that nearly made my heart break. And then another...and another..

I won't get into the gruesome details, but I'll just state that it was child porn, featuring boys. I got so angry and upset, that I logged off immediately...after contacting Tumblr about the issue. Of course, I couldn't sleep throughout the night, and I felt like throwing up 2 - 3 times (not much food in my stomach at the time - thank God). Those sick, disgusting images will be in my mind forever.



I'm not one of those people who'll just sit back and do nothing. If possible, I will do what I can to help correct something that is wrong...especially something as disgusting as child abuse/pornography.

I check my email over an hour ago, to find a response from Tumblr. They wanted me to come back, find the account, and copy and paste the offending images - to forward to them? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? I emailed them back, stating that I was not a Tumblr account holder, and that it was not my job to do their damn work for them, plus, I DID NOT WANT TO SEE THOSE IMAGES AGAIN! WTF? I'm still angry as I type this.

Fuck this shit. As Tumblr is based in New York, I contacted New York State Office of Children and Family and filled out an internet child porn report. FUCK TUMBLR!

It's like everything else - there is good and bad. Tumblr can be entertaining and useful, it can also be horrific.



Generally Yahoo still lets Tumblr be what it always has been, which you might see as a bastion of 1st amendment rights on the internet. It is up to people using it, still, to be responsible to decency.

That really sucks. There are really people out there that are into hurting children in such a way- and there are enough of them to gather a community (not that I think that's what tumblr is as a rule). It's truly scary. I do think it sucks incredibly that it could be up there long enough for you to see it. I doubt the pics were posted just that day.

Going on almost 8 days of humid hot weather from Hell.

I'm hating this...

Especially if I have to emerge from my apartment. I had to go out today. I felt like I was going to explode from the heat.

It's days like this that really make me want to live back in San Francisco. I want and need more morning and evening fog!

I have no more energy, and I can't concentrate, so no studying today.

I'll just screw around on the net, drink a lot, and stare out of my living room window.

FINALLY! I finished the story! All 13,500+ words, on twenty-six, 8x11 pages. I still don't have a title for it though...duh. And I'll need to read it over - and over - to tweak it.



Got a weird, obviously scam phone call from some guy claiming to be with AT&T today. He stated that they got a 'warning' that someone was trying to hack my computer. Really, dumbass? I asked for his number, then I called AT&T to let them know of the bullshit. The guy I spoke with at AT&T said that they received other calls from customers regarding similar calls.

Good grief!

As for the scam, I love those people. Especially when it comes to computers because yes, I will admit I may not know everything. But I could spew out random nonsense to them in computer lingo and they would agree with me 90% of the time thinking I know what I am doing thus the scam don't work.



That or I get enough info from them about their 'work' computers and start sending information to the FBI. >.> oh yea I am just that devious.

Here for a minute.



I'm almost done with the story I've been writing for over a week. Some days, I can write a lot; other days, I can only write a sentence. In any case, what should have been a short story has blossomed into a short novella. (As of right now, it's 26 pages long with almost 13,000 words).

And the strange thing is that I have no idea what to call it, ie what the hell is the title? I guess it will come to me in my sleep or something...

I have sections of Keats' 'La Belle Dame sans Merci' floating about in my head because of it.

I think that it's quite good, but then again, this is my biased opinion, of course.

In any case, I won't even bother posting it here, as it's too damn long.



I may log on later, as I hope to catch up with the few people I chat with regularly. For now - on to studying...and later, maybe I'll actually finish the story! (I have another story queued in my mind, to get done ASAP...then another one. I AM on a roll)!

Boss #2 called last night. She's my supervisor at work, but she is also a friend. We talked for one and a half hours, about a variety of shit, before we focused on work:



* That asshole Chef D is GONE! He was finally fired, after not being allowed at the job site for over 2 months. Two sheriff's deputies accompanied him to his locker, so he could get his shit and go. Hallelujah! That guy was such a psycho trouble-maker. Our worry now is that he comes on campus to slash tires...or do something worse.



* For the summer session, Mai was out sick again and on family leave (?) while Big Momma returned to work. She didn't loose any weight like she did the last time she was out for a long term, and is really not much better health-wise. As she is #3 of 3 permanent cashiers, she will have to work the evening shift now, as Cee wants the early morning shift. Big Momma will now have to work 8 hours for 4 days, instead of 6 hours over 5 days. She's not happy, but oh well...! This should be interesting.



* Note that as a contract worker, I work whatever hours/shifts they want me to work. Usually, I'm somewhere in the middle, as they need me during the busiest times (Not bragging, but I'm the fastest, plus I usually balance to the penny. And I work my ass off more than the three of them combined).

They want to make me full time, but still, the budget sucks. (I am working on going for a pharm tech job anyway, hence all of my studying for the state exam).



* The Fall semester begins a little early, and I believe I go back on August 18th. Wow! Summer is flying by.
