I just added the latest chapter to my story here (for the one person who reads it - lol)!
Now, I need to get back to making those chili beans.
Your Status:
Sire
Your Level:
105.32
At the rate I'm going, it will take awhile for me to get to the next level - Great Sire. I wonder how long it will take to reach that level of 110?
COMMENTS
It took me bloody ages....but then I am not on much now!
I believe i'll reach sire......in about....mmmm, two more years lmao. :P
I love perusing through some of the journals here; I'm a regular in many of them.
In most, I'm not a regular though. For those, something grabs my attention. Today, I read a lot of very angry entries. Some of the people at each others' throats are friends of mine here. Entertaining yes, but sad too.
Perfect examples of why I hate and stay out of drama!
Yes - I am knit-picking. I saw a profile where the guy introduces himself as a lord who gets bitten, turns into a vampire, etc.
Being somewhat anal retentive, I noticed that in part of his story, he stated that he went outdoors one evening to gather firewood...
Who goes out at night for firewood? Why would a lord gather wood? Doesn't he have servants to do that?
Another thing that makes me go 'Hmmmmm."
COMMENTS
it's the little things, ya know?
Perhaps he didn't realise what the time was and his servants had the night off! lol
My copy of 'Blood and Magic' arrived via Fedex yesterday - whoo hoo!
Now, I have to wait for the publication of the next book - I'll buy that one too!
And oh...it's so DAMN hot here now...second day in a row of a major heat wave. I can barely function in 95 degree weather...three cheers for the un-seasonal cool weather and fog...come back, come back!
I was talking to someone recently about Amway, and the 'Ambots' who sell Amway shit...the conversation reminded me of a 3-day seminar I attended a few years ago. I wrote a review about my experience, and am posting it here:
$100 for a 3-day seminar on money-making opportunities sounds like a good idea; not learning anything, but being totally freaked out doesn't.
A very nice professional woman - let's call her May - told me of a profitable business opportunity in which I could make from a few hundred to as much as a thousand dollars a month in extra income. From the vague initial info I received from her, I thought that she was trying to get me into a pyramid scheme, a-la-Amway. She assured me that she wasn't. All I had to do was attend the 3-day event to see and learn for myself. I agreed to go.
The weekend event - the BWW Spring Leadership Conference - was held at the Santa Clara Convention Center, from April 28-30, 2006.
Friday: There was a very long line of well-dressed young professionals - mainly of Indian and Pakistani descent. I was approached and asked on several occasions if it was my first time attending a conference - I said yes. I was told repeatedly that I was going to love it and learn a lot on 'building my own business'...I was getting psyched!
Once I got in - after standing in a line for almost 2 hours - I was met by May and seated with a few of her associates. They kept telling me how much fun I'd have in addition to learning. "Are you excited?' they asked - "I'll see" was my response.
The evening started with everyone singing 'God Bless America' then joining hands to say a prayer...WTF? Since when did patriotism and religion begin a business function? Uh-oh...
There were a few introductory speakers, then a guy who introduced new product lines (mainly vitamin supplements). After him, everything just went down The Rabbit Hole...the lights were dimmed everywhere except for the stage. People were shouting 'Freedom!' while giving what looked like Nazi salutes, and a familiar techno tune was blaring. Between each guest speaker, the crowd was whipped into a bigger frenzy, with hundreds stampeding to the stage to cheer the speakers on and get high-fives. I kept asking "Why is everybody running?'" "Because they're excited!" was the usual reply.
I didn't learn anything; the speakers mainly gave their life histories and bragged about their material wealth, while 'building the business' selling products from the Quixtar (Amway) line.
After that, I told May that I was confused with the program; she replied that the first day was always like that. I asked "When do I get to the training?" She said the training would be on Saturday and Sunday...I got home @ midnight.
Saturday: Even freakier than Friday. More people - more heat. More guzzling of the energy drink they supplied, which I liken to liquid crack-in-a-can. More people - many of them women in heels - joining in the salmon run to the stage. People shouting 'Freedom' at the top of their lungs, Nazi-saluting, and waving huge American flags. There was no training to be had, but I got to listen to a cheesy band perform 'positive pop music'...and they kept playing that same techno tune...which I later realized was the theme from "Mortal Kombat'...Got home @ 1 am.
Sunday: I skipped out on the several religious services that were available, but was there for the 'real meat and potatoes'...in which I left pretty hungry. What little info was given was done by people with such heavy accents that I barely understood any of it. By then, I was pissed off. People still kept asking me if I was excited, and I started to say "No!" and "You people scare me." Once I got home - @ 6pm - I sat down to reflect on my wasted 3 days. I felt like such a fool...recalling the constant energy drink-infused adrenaline rushes, the few hours of sleep, the men and women in almost identical clothes, listening to women say that the man should always be in charge, with the constant psuedo-religious content...made me realize that I had just escaped a MOFO cult!
A few days later, I spoke with May to let her know that I wasn't paying her for the $100 ticket she got me, since the promised training never materialized. I told her I'd send her a letter to that affect ( cc'd to my attorney). I never heard from May again...Freedom!

rofl.
sig Quixtar!
Wow this sounds like the Hypnotherapy conferences I keep going to!...Well apart from the flag and religon bit bit! lol
Man, talk about drinking the Kool-Aid! I guess we should update that for the 21st Century: "And then everyone started drinking the Energy Drink!"
I have the tv on CNN while having coffee, before studying...I see a news clip where a woman pets a cat, then puts it in a garbage can...!
They said that the authorities (in England) know who the woman is, and will be dealing with her soon...and the cat is okay.
I swear to God, if I was right there and saw that bitch putting that cat in the trash, she would've possibly gotten a beat-down from me.
COMMENTS
Yeah I saw this as well. The police now have to protect the woman from angry cat owners lol.
That must have been awful for the kitty. I couldn't watch the clip...other people told me about it. Geez. Hope they find that crazy ass woman soon.
So, I went to the other interview at the community college yesterday, not thinking that it would amount to much...boy was I wrong!
The interview went well; I was interviewed by two women. We ended up chatting for awhile, and I felt really good about going to the interview...two hours later, once I got home, I got a call back telling me that I got the job!
So...I called Macy's this morning, to let them know that I was taking another position elsewhere. (I will also follow up my call with a thank you note).
Anyway, the cashier job at the college is full time for 10 months out of the year ( One can get unemployment during the down time), and it pays more than Macy's! Plus, they agreed to let me start at 8:30 am instead of 7:30 am! The hours/days are set - Monday through Thursday - so I'd have Friday and the weekends off - which means I can organize the rest of my life, like school and visits to mom - Wow!
And...getting my foot into the community college system here opens more doors for other opportunities...I'm so happy and thankful!
I called my mom last night to tell her the good news...and beg for $900 (next month's rent), as the college job pays once a month - at the end of each month (Blah). I dreaded getting an earful from Mom, but she surprised me; not only was she happy, but she'd give me the money, plus extra, as she says I need to buy clothes - lol! (Most of my clothes are falling apart, or are too big now).
I am still speechless right now. But, I need to get dressed, and go to Mom's! I think that last night was the first night I've had in weeks that was fitful-free - lol!

Congrats!! See everything is going to fall into place now and things will work out. I'm so glad for ya!!
Kickin' ass and taking names...RIGHT ON! Sweeeet! :P
I know - thanks, ladies!
I'm chomping at the bit now - I want to get started!
(I have to wait for the paperwork to go through, and a call to go get finger-printed).
Nice!
Finally...a job!
Today my interview at Macy's went very well - so well that I was offered a choice of positions on the spot!
I was almost speechless, considering how horrible the job search has been for me...
The pay is kinda' sucky, but it is full time, which means benefits after 30 days, and I'd get an employee discount, of course.
I'll be working in the mens' department. The hours will be odd mostly every day, so it doesn't leave any wiggle room for a second job though...I have to go back tomorrow to fill out paperwork, and back again on Friday to start on some of the training...I think that I will be working by next week - yipee!
And wouldn't you know - when it rains, it pours. I got a call this afternoon for an interview on Thursday with a local college, regarding a full time cashier position. The only thing that is blah regarding this one job is that it starts at 7:30 am...Still, it won't hurt to get interviewed and check it out. The woman who called me really wants me to come in, and she said that she was being really 'picky'...okay - lol!
I appreciate whatever is coming my way - lol!
COMMENTS
Congrats!!! :)
Well HOO----RAY!!! Finally! This sounds great and let us know if you spot any hot dudes roaming around the men's department.
Well done and good luck : )
GO You! If you work for a college you get free classes. I worked for one.
3 hours, 30 minutes, 30 seconds.
Trippy, huh? Now - back to studying...whoopee.

omg, you're part of the creepy three's club too?! *is totally stoked* :P
There does seem to be alot of 3's around!
I noticed a woman staring at me yesterday. I tried to ignore her until she came up and told me that I was a double of someone she knew. She asked me my name - I didn't mind telling her.
A look of surprise came across her face - I had the same last name of my look-alike.
I had to laugh. I aksed her who this other person was - she stated that she was the wife of her church's pastor.
Now that was funny.
*screams and pulls hair*
What I wanna' know is why I didn't make the cut for a billing position with the county? I handled the bills and invoices at my last real job...duh.
And more bullshit: Why would a job placement specialist alert me to a customer service job with the Port of Oakland when I'd also need to know about freight and salvage, and martime law?
Do I look fuckin' look like Popeye?

xD
Do I look fuckin' look like Popeye?
You didn't list "eating spinach" as something you are qualified to do, did you?
;P
Well if I stand on one leg, squint in one and close the other. Hold my arm behind my back and hold a glass to my open eye......OMG
Fractions and decimals...dammit.
And I better re-learn them, as I can't risk killing a future patient...lol!
COMMENTS
Easy stuff. Need help?
lol! Seriously though, holy crap! Anything to do with math and I hear tires screeching somewhere...
lol. I wish you good luck :P
Graa you had to mention fractions, I hate them!
Love fractions! Sounds like what I started thiut I s summer with math after 30 years! LMAO! It was scary, but I made it and so can you! I will try to help you if I can OK :)
Went to a job club meeting this afternoon; I'm kinda' glad that I went, as I got a chance to network...you never know who you meet who may know of a job for you, ya' know?
Now - back to studying. At least this module is all about medical terminology, which I think I will like. I am familiar with a lot of the Latin and Greek roots, which should make this study module easier.
And lo - I broke down and bought a smaller, cheaper Mr Coffee coffeemaker, as my older model died...I need my coffee!
COMMENTS
*holds an empty coffee mug and eyes you* I need a warm up over here lol :P
Well, I'm trying to relax after spending almost a week of running around like a chicken without a goddamn head.
I didn't get that job - I was actually told that I was 'over qualified'...who the fuck gives a shit about being over qualified if one has to pay rent and eat? I know that employers are afraid to hire someone who they think will leave as soon as something better comes up, but damn...nothing 'better' is coming up. I got knocked down from my high horse of expectations a long time ago. Still, I thought that I had a chance...in any case, I will begin removing the education part from my resume. Yesterday, while in the pursuit of one job - which I figured out was too far/hard to get to - I applied for another, and have an interview in about two weeks. Hopefully, my fucked up left Achilles' tendon will be mended somewhat (I do a lot of walking, sometimes carrying/carting heavy shit, but at least it's exercise...but the bad ankle has got to go. No one wants to hire someome limping about)...
Well, rent and bills are paid, and me and the kitties have food and supplies. Next month is a mystery, as I have only a few hundred dollars left. And I can't keep bumming from my mom...
Still...I can relax just a lil' for now, and do more studying and assignments. Hell, I may actually be able to enjoy a few DVDs without worrying over the state of my life for awhile...for a short time anyway.

I've got it bookmarked so I'll be working my way through it soon enough. I've got a couple years of reading ahead of me though so feel free to keep the updates at a minimum for now!
