I'm sure most of you net savvy folks have heard of the Angry Video Game Nerd. If you haven't don't fear! Head over to www.gametrailers.com/screwattack and view his hilarious, if not raunchy, reviews and opinions on the suckitude of the video game world. :)
I am the Dark Video Game Nerd. lol I've been playing video games for pretty much as long as I can remember. Started early in life on an Atari VCS 2600 that my father purchased (to play Pac-Man lol) back in 83 or 84. Since then I have gone apeshit. I currently have 20 or more consoles and handhelds with close to 1000 games and adding to it everyday. My teens was spent worshipping my Sega machines. :) Since their demise I have shifted my addiction to Nintendo and I can say that the Wii and DS are turning out to be my favorite game systems of all-time. While I love the classic games and my taste is getting dated... the newness of the Nintendo systems today is refreshing. The DS's touch screen and the Wii's remote was simply a stroke of pure serendipity. You can't know or relate unless you sit down and actually try it. Just go to a video game specialty shop (like Gamestop) and ask to try some Wii and DS games and you'll see what I'm talking about. Nintendo has proved that it takes more than pretty eye candy and over teched toys to keep the fun set to high and keep us glued to the tube or teethered to the gameboy. :)
I applaud you Nintendo. You set the heart of nerds ablaze! :D
This section of the journal will primarily focus on the nerdy things that interest me. There is many, many things I hold dear that literally drip geeksauce. lol
Number 1 is a quick one. Google! I can't even imagine life without Google... I've tried so many other search engines through the years since I've finally moved on from posting on local BBSs (bulletin board systems - class AAA nerdy thing itself! lol) on my Zenith XT with it's ultra clicky keyboard and green monochrome monitor *swoons* (See, my train just jumped the tracks there...) to a new computer (IBM Aptiva) that could actually connect to the internet! I've tried metacrawler, dogpile, Jeeves, Ask, yahoo (my fav until I realized the superiority of Google) and a slew of others that I don't even recall and some don't even exist anymore. Throw in Google Video (I need my Youtube still though) and Google Earth and Maps... there is just so much to do. The ultimate internet utility! YAY!
