The Meaning of HalconDeLuna

Hello! Welcome to my journal.
I figured that for my first entry, I'd discuss the meaning behind my username. "halcon de luna" is Spanish for "Moon Hawk", which is my magick name. I'm a student of Green Witchcraft - I will not use the term 'practitioner' until I actually incorporate more rituals and honor the Sabbats on a regular basis.
I've been interested in all things related to the occult for about twenty years now. I like Green Witchcraft because it is something that is more of a lifestyle than a religion, and can be tailored to meet your own personal needs.
I've also always felt a strong affinity to the moon, ruled by the Roman goddess of the hunt, Diana (Artemis in the Greek mythologies). I do 'loosely' worship Diana, in the sense that I will pray to her and ask for strength when it is needed; I do not do any spellwork, though. At least not yet. Spells are SO POWERFUL, and your mindset MUST be in clear understanding of the intentions that you want to include with your spell. Otherwise, it won't work - and things could go awry.
Furthermore, I have much respect for hawks...the red-tailed hawk, specifically. Hawks are known for being messengers, and I have extra respect for the red-tail for three reasons:
1) they're gorgeous birds!
2) they're prevalent in my area
3) they represent my dad's spirit in the After Life.
So for these and several other reasons, "Moon Hawk" is a very fitting name for my current transitional phase as I learn the ways of Green Witchcraft. I also love the Spanish language, so I thought the translation would be fitting for a profile here on VR.
