The NYC I knew

18:43 Oct 01 2024
Times Read: 42

I knew a city where you could be different. When we were colorful, I used to wear light blue shadow and walk the campus; and people would smile. When we were cold I used to huddle with the masses in the park, watch our breath together and commiserate. When we were hot I used to walk the city half naked and no one cared.
Now all they do is care; but mostly about themselves; because they don't care at all about you. No one cares about you. They would step on you or over you or even through you.
Midtown is a disaster. It always was but now 42nd is a nightmare when it used to be a dream. "If you can make it here...." Just stop right there. No one is "making it". No. Either you take it, or you already had it. The only thing NYC makes now is more felons. Excuse me, I'm wrong, it makes a mess too.
This city needs an enema. It is the base of my pain. This city is my lover, and they've kicked me out the house apparently. It's alright; I've been cheating on Manhattan with the Jersey Shore anyway.
I didn't want to move. Want. It seems New York has forgotten what it's people want. The mayor is a god damn joke. The governor is a god damn joke. The city....is a god damn joke. A bad one at that.
