The moonlight reins over the night
A ruler of the forgotten sunset
For in the village only light is known
Oh how quickly people forget
No one tells tales of the moon
The sun rules over all they know
They can't remember the sacred night
Darkness was banished so long ago
Only one old man knows of night
It's bright and shimmering stars
But no one listens to his words
For he is trapped behind thick prison bars
The sun had him locked away
To destroy all bits of hope
But the old man will not give up
He is the opposite of woe
For he is a creature of the dark
The final Prince of Night
He copes well under pressure
And won't give up without a fight
This forsaken prince lives courageously
Even though the sun rules all
Sunlight cannot tame his wild heart
And so the mighty sun must fall
He lashes out against the guards
To face the wretched sun
One sword of moon is all it takes
And soon the war is won
The sun has set and moon shines down
Freed from its bondage of many years
But with the darkness comes a price
The pain and anguish of fear
Just a step from the border
Between real and bliss
No more of excuses
No people to miss
Just a breathe from freedom
And our mistakes
Beneath our feet
The world quakes
Just a thought from despair
We must be quick
Our minds diseased
Our bodies sick
At the edge of the world
Just you and I
Hand in hand
We'll learn to fly
And if we don't
Then down we'll fall
And so disappears
Love, pain, and all
And so the sun rose, but she did not
Her limp body hung from a rope
She had simply given up on life
And abandoned the last of her hope
One sad sparrow glanced through the window
And saw her dark and lifeless soul
"How could she be that lost?" he chirped
"She's hardly twenty years old"
The sparrow had know a cruel winter
But he couldn't understand
How could such a young life end?
Taken by her own weary hand
The sad little sparrow was tired as well
But not of being alive
He was disheartened by the frigid world
All he could do was attempt to survive
And this young girl, with all her life
Had all that she could want
Her house was warm and she wouldn't starve
So why were her eyes so hollow and gaunt?
The sparrow sat pondering this for quite a while
Unaware of the the danger drawing near
From the sky a falcon did glance
The little sparrow, void of fear
Down it swooped, drawing so near
To the young and thoughtful bird
His silent wings sliced through the air
But it was too late when the sparrow heard
He was snatched up by the cruel falcon
With talons as sharp as a knife
And as the sparrow was carried away
He thought "And this is life."
