Okay, I asked a friend for their opinion about whether or not I should post some essays that I have written. They said I should so here goes. Please note that this specific essay was written a while back.



Have you ever lost something really dear to you? I'm sure everyone has at some point in their lives, but could you imagine losing your life with it? About ten years ago I lost my father. He didn't die but at times I wish he had. I know that is a cruel thing to say, but it is true. While my dad may not have died, I think I did or at least a part of me did. If you haven't figured it out, I guess I will tell you, my dad left us. Alone and empty for someone else. Don't ask me why because, I have no idea myself. I only know that at that time I died a little inside. Until then my dad had been my world and suddenly it was gone. I didn't know what to do, to think or to say. I just wandered around lost, lonely and scared; what else is a seven year old suppose to do? Noone would talk to me because they were consumed by their own feelings. I often wonder if my life would be different had my mom and dad gotten back together. I will never really know but, I can imagine; for they didn't take that away. It has only been a year since the divorce but, the most important thing has happened. About a year ago my dad married that other someone and she became my step-mom. While standing beside them at the wedding and watching them light the unity candle I realized that maybe my "world" had left suddenly as if to let me know that I could depend on myself. I'm not going to deny that I have not suffered because, I have suffered a great deal. Not only from losing my "world" but, also from trying to depend on and become myself.
