I dont really know where to begin. But i'm just going to go with the flow and see where it takes me.
Real Vampires. Interesting topic. I awakened (became consciously aware of my vampiric nature) half a decade ago now and after studying as much as I can, I've hit that stage where I'm enjoying my existence and like to think about the finer points of the the what, where, when and why.
I was initially very ill. Had very interesting dreams. I didn't really know what I was doing at the time, but I had been an energy practitioner since quite an early age, I knew there was something wrong with my health. I slowly became more sensitive to sunlight, experienced massive fatigue, most of the typical symptoms. Always been highly skeptical but know what I feel.
I started researching, compared notes... so to speak, with many in the various communities. Discovered, as we all did, the massively varying accounts. Started sorting out the fact from the fiction.
Whereas the initial idea of the classical vampire in fiction came from roots in slavic territories, specifically, relating to the undead, we can all accept that the idea of something that exists in our real life world cannot, functionally, be undead. Right?
What is a creature that is undead? The term "undead" is a creation entirely of fiction is it not. Does it refer to a broad spectrum of entities which do not exist physically on this plane? If ghosts and spirits do indeed exist, would they not be alive? Or am i getting life mixed up with sentience?
Or... as i'm pointing out, perhaps the definition of "life" is set by boundaries of what humans can prove scientifically... I digress.
So. A vampire of fiction, or a vampire from the various myths of such the greek (vrykoulas) or slavic (upir) could be classified as being undead... hence the reason why most fiction refers to vampires as undead. But where does this leave people in real life who exhibit vampiric traits? We didnt die. We didnt continue to exist. We are not undead. Although there are many that wish that they were... because it sounds cooler.
An interesting point, beginning with psi vampires. Various creatures that we could call psi vampires have existed in many more cultures than blood feeding vampires (which as the learned point out is a recent invention, if you disregard that certain warrior rites from slavic cultures have consumed the blood of fallen foes in order to increase their power.). Which is interesting, because real life vampires do get benefits from consuming blood. perhaps it began with a fictional idea that psi vampires adopted. Perhaps there are two types of vampires... Or blood feeding is just something that we are adapting to.
Succubi/incubi. Pranic feeders. I can't be bothered creating an extensive list, but we have all researched to discover the various entities in mythology that feed from humans in one way or another. Where is the commonality in these myths?
There are many examples of real cultures that practiced various methods of feeding on flesh and blood, not just creatures from mythology. The idea that consuming one part of another of a being and that you attain its traits or power. The ideas are not new. Also interesting to note, is that human energy practitioners from the world in general have used methods to draw energy from environmental sources. All over the world and throughout time there have always been energy practitioners that claim to be able to for draw energy from natural events such as thunderstorms... the earth... a breeze... a wave
Not to mention the sun and moon, which were cornerstones of pagan traditions
So. with that said, what is the difference between a human energy practicioner taking energy from people, and a psi vampire taking energy from people? Energy practicioners have been known to have enhanced abilities. what makes that different from a vampire? Even humans can feed on emotions. Or feed on vitality. Or feed on energy in general.
I had a person tell me something interesting a few months ago. They believe they are a vampire... and their method of psi feeding is a little different from what I considered normal. Rather than feeding on strong emotions... they said that they get a person to think up complicated things... get the creative brain juices going. logical problems. Stuff like that. Then feed off the actual processing going on in their brain
Most of us believe we feed off emotional energy from people. however, this person was feeding off actual brain activity. Not that they hooked their donor up to a brain wave monitor. Grain of salt. Then you have people like me who believe we feed off the whole spectrum of a humans energy. not just emotions, not just higher level thought. But feeding off the energy that sustains a persons health and energy flows. I directly feed off their vitality.
Again. I digress.
So. what really is a vampire. at the base definition, before we even get into sanguine vampires. A vampire is somebody who MUST feed or they become sick.
Fair to say, that in reality. vampires are just humans? Yes? Energy practicioners to be sure, enhanced abilities, get sick if they don't feed, Check. But still humans. I believe the causes to be genetic. I have no proof of this concept. I do not believe in the more schizophrenic beliefs, such as invisible retroviri. But I do know that I can feel the energy when I feed. I do know that I don't get sick, I do know that I have epic nightvision (epic vision in general), and that I have light sensitivity. I do know that I get sick when I don't feed. I do know that I get a massive burst of energy from feeding.
This is what I "believe". I dont know if you've felt what its like to psi feed. It isnt always easy. In my oppinion most vampires sub consciously psi feed when they are hungry, but, this doesnt usually happen until they've become ill. As for consciously feeding when you're not ill. It doesnt always work as efficiently, you can only absorb so much energy until when you try to pull it in, the extra just drains out.
This is what it feels like to me. It's like taking a breath and trying to hold it in, you eventually need to exhale. With practice, you can store more and more energy, but theres still a limit, that you hit when you have enough energy for your needs. Or based upon your practice at filtering the energy and storing it.
If you are a psi vamp, and it works differently for you, I'm not saying you aren't a vampire. The brain is a wonderful thing. Take for instance Amblymopia. Or Synethesia (chromethesia is a good example in a previous topic here). A good theory with some logical basis is that we all train ourselves to feed differently.
Which brings me to the topic of why some "vampires" feed off blood, myself included.
For me, blood contains far more energy for some reason. It's more like a delayed release energy drink that makes it possible for me to feed once, quickly, then not have to worry about devoting time, concentration and effort to psi feeding.
Make sense?
I may be different from a typical sanguine vampire in this regard. As I can survive off psi feeding for long periods. But I do notice that I get more fatigued, quicker, if I don't feed off blood. It takes longer than normal (several weeks, sometimes a month or two), but I do eventually get sick enough that I need to feed off blood. Whether animal or human.
Obviously I prefer human blood but it isn't always easy to get a donor. i've had two donors so far over the past 5 years (fed off them dozens of times). It isn't easy for me to reveal all my secrets to somebody in real life so when somebody does become my donor I end up being very close to them until either I or they move on.
Anyway. I'm going to grab a bit of rest before I have to go into the sun.
I cheated a little and revisited about 10% of the forum posts i looked at yesterday. In fact yesterday I had a look at posts that interested me going back to 2011. Doh. lol :D Oh well, wont be long till I can at least post forum replies.
I get easily bored. So I decided to make an account here at Vampire Rave. Interesting setup.
