Peace

Prince Dif Nei Pieris unfolded his four arms in a grand gesture to the room, "The war drums are beating loudly on my planet. 900 000 soldiers are standing by, to be deployed at a moments' notice. We, all of us are facing a threat greater than Nuclear bombs, Biological-Chemical agents or viral weaponry. It has been hanging in the air, powerful poisons that could destroy us all - Patriotism. Pride and Prejudice could be the weapons of our demise.



I want to tell a story to everyone here. The legends of the past shape our lives and those of our children. One such legend is of a struggle that almost destroyed our world.



Two leaders on opposite sides of war, fell in love. The names of Miei and Enyal echo down through the years, still inspiring love and hatred even now, a thousand years after their tragic deaths.



Their conflict wiped out civilization, left the survivors in a world of debris, warring pockets of survivors and bitter divisions between the people. Miei and Enyal's legacy left behind nothing but creeping shadows, a random tangle of steel and concrete, as if hell had erupted through the grounds and kept on growing. Society declined, spiraling downward until at last only a few scattered groups even remembered there once were better times.



900 years later, civilization was once more on the rise. The citizens devoted themselves to art and the sciences as Old Knowledge is being rediscovered.



But then twenty years ago, history repeated itself. The new Devastation war destroyed a millennium's progress. The war was finally resolved and soon after an agreement was reached at Junius, the location of the tragedy where all sides rallied for mutual understanding and peace.



200 days ago, the peace was shattered again by new war.



Children lost in the street.

Fear in an old man's eyes.

A mother's piercing cry, her child's blood on the wall.

A little girl wondering where her brother had gone. Countless faces pale from heat sickness, fear, diseases and lack of hope. We are here to make peace. There must be peace. If not now, there might not be a next generation ..."
