The first night

I ran and ran, too many thoughts to count passed through the consciousness. Confused I ran, wishing to out run them, but with each step, each leap, each stride more and more thoughts filled my being, more memories that I ever knew I had came flooding like a dam bursting and flooding the city that was my memory.

Then it stopped. I stopped. The world stopped. It was as if a switch had moved from confusion to crystal clarity. A single image locked in front of my eyes, whether my eyes were open or closed it made no difference. The third eye was awake.

This image was powerful yet told me nothing. A ring of stones, I was knelt in the middle, looking towards the night sky. The moon was full, the stars ablaze, a hue in the air, flowing from one point to another, seeming to have no beginning, yet no end either. Stretching as far as the eye could see.

Shaking my head to try to clear this image... this... memory. It wouldn't move, just locked there. "What does this mean?" I thought to myself. Within a heartbeat I was on the floor, collapsed through exhaustion, thirst and hunger. The image still fixed, but was becoming transparent, as if it was a dream memory, fading as the morning light and the new day fills your senses. "How... far... did I..." Was all I could think before darkness started to consume all senses and vision.

Sounds all around awoken me from my slumber. The sub-conscious giving way to the consciousness. Eyes opening painfully slow, adjusting to the light. It was dawn, looking around there was nothing but lush green trees with the morning dew forming on the leaves and dripping to the ground, a cushion of leaves and shrub grass underneath the space in which I occupied. As focus came more easily with each moment, more and more detail started to flow into the senses. Seeing my hands, blood covering them, confusing filling up within...

"Where am I? What happened?" I thought aloud, still unable and unwilling to move....
