I had to add a second water dish in the crab tank. The big guys were hogging it and the little guys always got pushed out. So I got a smaller water dish and set it up.



The little crabs found it at once. Two or three can fit in there at the same time. They will sit on the edge and wash themselves, have a drink, or plop right on in and have a bath. When they go in, they will sit a minute, then wiggle back and forth, to get all the sand out of the back section of the shell. Then when they get out they tip to one side so the water drains out. They always maintain some water in the very back of their shell, for lubrication.



I also got them a bright pink climbing toy with lots of holes to hook onto. Propped this in one corner. They love anything pink...there is a calcium block in there colored pink and they chew on that. In no time a little crab scampered to the top of the climbing toy and sat there happily king of his little world.



The big guys are snoozing in the corner. They'll wake up later and raise all sorts of hell. :P

I had NO idea crabs were so interesting. Hmmm. :P
