Proof that poetry is not art:
Vampire Rave Inspiration
VRS (Vampire Rave System) is now a better poet than 95% of the crap I've read in my lifetime.
100% programmed by me. The machines will rise.

It is better than a lot of poetry... but...
Life is never kind.
Speak but one rhyme, and I am satisfied.
Over rocks that are steepest, love will find the way.
More dear than light, or life, or fame.
You who would live, would live alone and in sorrow.
No, the heart that has truly loved never forgets.
I think your server needs to go outside and enjoy some sunshine before it ends up on Prozac.

VRS draws upon its experience.. IE, the VR users. Their pain, their sorrow, is all felt by VRS.

I recently read that poetry is the lowest for of the arts; any cave troll can string words together. Whether they appeal to another is a different matter.
VR Inspiration is hilarious. xD At least it has decent grammar. :P

So... because it's doesn't produce crap, something of the same medium produced well isn't art?

Morrigon, if a monkey could write Shakespeare, that would mean Shakespeare was not art.
Monkeys cannot write Shakespeare. But VRS can write poetry.
A monkey is smarter than VRS.

Given that A.I. can be developed to 'think' faster, doing more things at once than any mere human would be capable of, with the capacity to surpass the human intellect because it could re-write itself to better effect, therefore, having the potential to be independently-acting and capable of outsmarting the creator...
...what happens in 10 or 20 years when the technology you have produced begins to outsmart even you...?
Evil genius. The poetry is good.
