It's hard to believe that I have been listening to Type O Negative for over 10 years. It's even harder to believe, that despite being one of my favorite bands, I have never seen them in concert.



Last night, myself, Scarlett, WildChild, and PhoenicianDream all went to see Type O.



I was glad to have seen them, and I would do it again... But I was disappointed. The music was sloppy. Peter Steele's voice was sloppy. It wasn't the Type O I feel in love with so many years ago.

Not that I ever need an excuse to go out on a Friday night, but last night was a little bit special. 1 year back in Arizona.



A few highlights of the evening:

First stop was a new club I hadn't been to before called Burn. It wasn't goth, it was what I call Goth Friendly. The doorman took one look at me and said, "You're in for free."

Totally straight men (and many more gay ones) were coming over and feeling up my clothes.

Hit Transylvania around 11:30pm. That doorman didn't let me in for free. Prick.

A 6'3" woman was continually hitting on me. Tall chicks rock.

I got a spanking around 12:30am. I don't remember why.

I went to leave at 1:30am. One of my married friends cornered me, grabbed onto me, buried her head in my chest and would not let me go. It was flattering but very inappropriate.

Tonight is Sadisco. I haven't been to one in months. I'm really looking forward to it.

I received the following from one of my professors after an analytic review of an article written in the The American Journal of Sociology in 1960. The focus of the article was to determine why Jews in Chicago moved out of the city and to the northern suburbs between 1920 and 1960. The researcher's conclusion that it was "voluntary segregation" as a result of African-Americans moving into urban Chicago.



It was a very racist article. It was surprising (personally) to find it printed in a scientific journal in 1960. My analysis critiqued the conclusions of the researcher.



My professor sent me the following email:



Mr. Thompson:



Another week of good work with the DQs. I liked your really digging into the journals. The Chicago article was interesting. I am originally from there. After WWII, my rather large family kept moving northward in the city from the North Side to suburbia (ever northward into Lake Co.). But I do not recall it being owed to black migration. As I recall from many subsequent visits, black neighborhoods were not often seen north of the Loop. Now the West Side was a different story as a Jewish migration from there began shortly after WWII.
