pain and loss

March 2cnd will be a sad day for all of us here at the ranch because one of our beloved has gone on.

Squishy McSquish (don't ask me, my son named him) passed on when he was hit by a car. He was an adorable black dog. He was the son of my favorite dog in all the world, Fancy Mae Letien. She was a beagle. His body made it look like he should have had longer legs. He loved more than he was loved, played with everyone and just enjoyed riding in a car more than anything. That is probably what got him hit, more than likely he was trying to get into the car with the ladies and they didn't see him run in front of them until it was too late. To their honor they were devastated and offered to help but he died instantly. We hold no ill will against them. This; however does not soothe our wounded souls. Go forth Squishy into the peaceful night and gain the rest you so richly deserve. We can only hope to join you one day.

Is it possible for some one to say all the right things and still in the end insult you? Is it possible for "I love you ", to be the last thing that should come out of a persons mouth? When is it love and when it is manipulation? When is it the truth and when it is a lie we tell ourselves to keep us from feeling so alone?

Remember we live in a time when many people have needs they don't know how to address so they turn to us and lie. They lie not because they want to hurt us or even really use us but they are desperate to find that something. That something to quiet the aching longing for the nameless thing they need.

Children, be silent for a time and learn to read the lines they aren't saying before you decide who they are. The one person you may think you like today may be your eternal enemy in reality and the one person you think you hate today, may become a life long friend of the highest order. Keep your heart open and your mind clear.
