Feeling drained again lately. Think I just need a change of pace...didn't realize how exhausting my life is! The vacation was great, but the rejuvenation is wearing off already...hopefully the new year will bring renewed energy. I am working out, so my resolution will be to lose weight and get a bit healthier. Thinking that might help with the lack of energy, I do feel slightly better overall already.
Guess we will see how well my overall well-being assists with mental exhaustion caused by working with a bunch of high-school mentality, socially stunted kids that haven't learned a work ethic...or that their boss isn't always going to be their best friend.
Sigh. Somedays I feel like a babysitter.
Last night was the winter solstice, and a total lunar eclipse. First time since approx Dec 21st 1638 that they both have happened at the same time. What little I saw of it was amazing, although I missed most of it due to cloud cover (20% chance of visibility).
Suppose that is the main drawback to living in the Pacific Northwest, in the winter we see mostly grey, not sky.
However, it was still fascinating - this won't happen again in many of our lifetimes! Pictures can be found here. Also, here is the link to an article I found about it from the WA post.

sometimes is VERY time consuming.
Even more so when you make the gift (although I do love the creative process!)
While I am blessed that there are so many amazing people in my life, sometimes it tangles things up as well. During this time of the year, I generally end up feeling completely drained...but that isn't always a bad thing. It's nice having friends and family to occupy my time - I could be alone and bored.
Happy Holidays, all!
Is about done, I think. Have to get something for my cousin's son, and my cousin...
And two Secret Santa gifts. That is the worst - one of the people I am shopping for has not given ANY ideas...even though an anonymous out was suggested...I suppose I could get him a pack of Camels...but that seems lame to me.
Sigh. Time to wrack my brain for REAL ideas. Otherwise, gift card.
Was a blast. I loved seeing my brother - he is as good at grilling as I am at baking! Between the two of us, we had an amazing Thanksgiving dinner - complete with TWO turkeys! Spent about a week at his place, and just doing tourist stuff around LA. He knew a bunch of good places to go, having lived there for the past 7 or so years.
It had been too damn long since I had seen him last, so this trip would have been worth it, even without all the food and additional time off.
After we left LA, we headed to Vegas. Had an amazing time there, too! Did a bit of gambling, but refrained from going overboard. There is SO much to do there! We probably only explored about 20% of it, and that was in three days of wandering around from about 9a - 11p. Crazy.
Headed through Death Valley after that. Talk about two extremes. After the massive amount of people crammed in to LA, and again in Vegas, there was NOTHING (almost literally) and no one in Death Valley...no houses, no people, just desert. It was so weird, going from one to the other in such a short time and distance.
From Death Valley, we cut to the coast and checked out the Redwood Forest in northern CA. Also amazing. I had been there before. It is a true miracle of nature that these trees grow so large (some you can actually drive your car through - we went through one that had a 7ft 7in capacity) and are somewhat fire resistant as well. Just incredible.
All in all, an amazing journey - we have hundreds of pictures that I will be sorting through this next month. Who knows, some may even get posted!
