Sent to me by the writing instructor in a class I'm taking :
Reality is raw material, language the way I seek it – and how I don’t find it. But it is from seeking and not finding that what I have not known is born, and I instantly recognize it. Language is my human endeavor. I have fatefully to go seeking and fatefully I return with empty hands. But – I return with the unsayable. The unsayable can be given me only through the failure of my language. Only when the construct falters do I reach what it could not accomplish. – Clarice Lispector
Inspired me to send him the following:
My reality is lambs. Baa is not the language I seek. I do not know what I do not know until the afterbirth. Then I make stuff up if empty handed fate doesn't get in the way. Some words fail, all except the easy ones like the or was. The construct sucks. The lambs must die.
Clarice on an off day.
He responded with this:
Use this in your book: if empty handed fate doesn't get in the way. See ya.
My reply:
Oops! I forgot to add LOL.
I'm pretty sure telling me to use what I wrote in my my book is the same as telling me to go fuck myself. What do you think?
