There in the meadow lies a bunny. What used to be a soft sweet innocent creature. Unbeknownst to it, was a wolf nearby. Biding his time. Waiting for her to venture close. The Alpha. He would come a little closer every day at the same spot and the same time. He watched her raise her head whenever she would sniff for nearby predators, showing her soft delicate neck that, beneath the skin, held life. All that he was after. One morning he waited very nearby for her. She never came. He waited and waited but nothing happened. On his way back to his den, his head low from guilt at not being able to provide for his mate and two cubs, he heard something. Another predator nearby. He sniffed the air and heard it stop. Not five feet away from him. He growled low, slowly revealing his razor like canines and wrinkling his muzzle threateningly. He looked in its direction. It in return looked right back at him. But it wasn't afraid. It came closer. No hesitation at all. It's eyes gleamed yellow and had a black slit in the middle. It's shoulder was almost as tall as his. He snarled at it to warn it but to no avail. She too was a predator. But a different kind. Her body at first seemed sleek and limber. But as the light illuminated her a little more through the trees, he got a better look. She was solid. Her muscles rippled under loose tan fur. Her gate was very casual but menacing. Like snake he had seen before when it approached a cornered mouse. She showed her canines, much larger than his and screamed. She was a mountain lion.
