I must admit I cringe sometimes when my daughter joins a group or says something on Facebook. Should I see it that she is embarrassing me and herself, or should I let her express herself in a manner that I am so not use to. Her spelling is fine, she is knocking them dead at English in school yet as soon as she comes to FB she becomes dyslexic and writes in a language that obviously has no vowels!
Have missed something?!! All her friends seem to know what she’s saying. Oh and get this, she tells me not to comment on her status as it embarrasses her, yea, I embarrass her.
Don’t get me wrong, my daughter and I have a relationship that most fathers would envy, but I feel as she gets older I’m losing my grip on her. Well it was never really a grip I guess but it was and still is special.
We all had a great week at work so the boss gave us Friday off.
I have a million things to do and yet ‘nothing’!!
I am grateful for the impromptu day off yet I’m out of routine. It was only confirmed yesterday (Thursday) so it’s not like I could plan anything.
It’s taken me less than an hour to do those ’very important things’ that, since completing them seem less important than I thought.
I did stay in bed an extra hour, ‘yay me’ but then I went to bed an hour later last night.
For the first time in an age I’m without a decent book to read, I shall watch a film later on so that will kill an hour or two.
All my friends are at work so I shall call them all and pinch another five to ten mins on each call. I could have done with at least one of them being off today.
I have no trouble being in my own company, but today was just so unscheduled. I feel out of place in my own home!
I’m off to fluff my pillows again.

A-E-I-O-U...the way I see it, its good that your daughter can use correct spelling when she needs to but she really does not need to with her peers, its something they all do, each generation do it...
I'm guessing your parents at times moaned they could not understand your peer-to-peer interactions? I know mine did to the point my mum now says 'wicked' or 'cool' simply because it has taken her over 30 years to figure out how these phrases are meant.

I remember my dad said to me that they used to say Ace at school...over a hundred years ago now lol.
My children are almost 8 and they wont let me kiss them goodbye at school when I drop them off.
They grow up so fast.
