Happy Holidays

21:36 Dec 18 2013
Times Read: 561

My internet is now back on at home and I am so pleased to be able to ‘do my thing’ in the privacy of my home and in a relaxed manner and just in time for the holidays too.

I can’t believe how much I missed it, forget the fact that I have a very clean home I was just simply lost. I did pick up a book or two more than I would have and I aim to focus on that and incorporate it into my normal routine as I did find that comforting, sort of like the same way I will fondly talk about hearing scratches on vinyl instead of the clinical approach that is a CD or MP3.

Anyway, I’m back and will be in your lives by way of your journals,

Happy Holidays.

Times Read: 600

A famous actor dies and everyone makes a post. Nelson Mandela dies and ‘nothing.

If you don’t know who he was I suggest you Google him.

I didn't even realise he'd died.

Typical media, go on and on about a B-grade actor, nothing for a human rights activist and humanitarian who did great things for the world.

Reminiscent of of when Princess Diana died and it was all in the papers (not an actress but it had high media coverage) in comparison to Mother Teresa passing away around the same time and little being mentioned of it. Every life is important, so all should get tribute, but the media treats death as it were fashion. Most disgraceful. Nelson Mandela is a important figure in recent History and it's shameful it's being overlooked by the media.

I have another perspective... celebrities (for the most part) don't 'stand' for anything. It's easy to talk about them without inciting any hard feelings. Mandela stood a for LOT. I don't like to talk about politics at ALL on Facebook. If I were to mention him there, and got any snide comments, I would have been angry. I avoided that and spent a large majority of the day reading articles about him and remembering where I was during pivotal moments of his history. I took the day to just give my own private nod... and I did in fact avoid any ignorant comments I could have received online about it.

I have a selection of ignorant family members that would have been likely to have said something that would have pissed me off, and other connections.

It's just social media. I work hard to try not to talk politics on VR anymore either (I have in the past). It's not to downplay or degrade how anyone else decides to use their online realms- it's just not for me. When it slips out, I usually regret it. Saying how I feel about certain things is not worth the anxiety that comes along from jackasses.

Of course I also learned the of the actor death the same way. But didn't turn the news on to learn anymore.
