I found out that HBO made a movie about Temple Grandin. I watched it tonight and it was awesome. She has autism and was diagnosed when they still blamed the Mothers. She has designed pens for livestock. She thinks in pictures and she has an amazing mind.
I did respite with the developmentally disabled for around ten years and my specialty was autism. I heard of Temple all the time and had read a few things about her and watching the movie brought tears to my eyes. She is such a great person and has done so much for the cause of aiding those with autism. It does run in my family and I have grandchildren who are diagnosed with autism.
Like Temple, many are affected in the sensory area of sound, touch, etc. Unfortunately, not all are sensory defensive. It is a very complex disorder and runs a spectrum of symptoms some have and others don't. There is still a lot of controversy about it and some doctors still can't recognize it if it is not a hallmark case. It is an epidemic in California. I use to be very, very involved with this on a more global level but now it is very personal.
It was so strange being offline so often in the past few months. I got the chance to view my profiles from other monitors, etc.
It really does make a difference on what your settings are and the type of monitor you are using. Some of my graphics look really large on other monitors but fine on mine...go figure.
I have a 17 inch wide screen. I changed the background on one of mine because something went haywacky when I was off. Now I am going to have to spend hours on my ezine upgrading and changing since so much time has passed. I love working on it but it will be tedious now but a necessary evil.
