Recently there’s been a successful campaign, regarding speeding motorists on Brookhurst Avenue. Well, today a speeding motorist endangered other motorists and cyclists, with his actions, when he damaged the tree outside in the verge, outside where I live.
I’d been going to make a coffee, so was at the back of the living-room looking out and saw a small, tall light blue box van speed past our home, brushing hard against the tree as it had sped past, damaging it.
It had only been after watching passes-by checking the tree out that I had decided to do the same, which is when I’d seen a large branch half on and off the three and into the road itself, threatening to fall on anyone who passed by.
Well, I had phoned Streetscene who were closed; but with the number for WBC emergency, I had contacted them, telling them what had occurred.
And, within the hour someone arrived, to ensure the branch was removed from the tree, to ensure public safety.
Firstly, the speeding on my road is really becoming an issue; but secondly the emergency services provided for the local rate-payers need to be saved from any potential cuts, as they are the last defence for the needy of the borough.
Cuts… cuts… but, always money for war…
