She walked down the hall, distracted by the news she just got. "how could it be true? He just got here." They'd been so close and now he was leaving her.



Reina is her name, and this is her life. Stephan was a boy she met. He was new to the school, and it was love at first sight when their eyes met. A few weeks ago he had been diagnosed with lukemia.



Reina headed into Latin 1, expecting to see Stephan in his normal seat. A sad look swept across her face as she saw it was vacant. She hated it when he had to go to the doctor. It meant less time together.



The rest of the day was a blur. While Reina drove home, she called Stephans cell phone. No answer. She walked throught the door to her house. When she saw her mom, grief stricken, in the living room, she was confused.



"What's wrong, mom?"



Her mom turned to her, and Reina knew what she was going to say.



"No. It can't be true. I talked to him last night. He sounded fine!" Reina's voice grew louder.



"Honey I'm so sorry. They just called."



"It's bullshit!" Reina shouted.



She stormed off to her room and called Stephans mom, who confirmed the horrible news.



Reina, blinded by greif, grabbed her ADD pill bottle and took the remaining pills. Walking slowly to her bed, the pills started to do their damage. As tears streamed down her face, she layed down and closed her eyes.
