I was reading the Rat's journal entry about face care items and I thought about how lucky I am.
I was blessed with a fantastic complexion. From a young age my mother warned me that if I wore cheap make up I could ruin it.
She also wanted me to learn how to do it the proper way. So when I turned 15, she took me out to a salon and had someone show me how to properly apply make up. Then showed me how to remove it.
Over time, I have grown to the point where I don't plaster myself in make up. I never really did, but now I only reserve it for special occasions.
The way I remove it is pretty simple. Wash rag and dial soap. I don't need oil control nor do I have to worry about excessive dry skin on my face. (the rest of my body is a different story though)
As for aging. I'm 22 years old. I don't stress about wrinkles or gray hair. I know that some of my choices in food will impact me in later ages. I choose to drink pomegranate juice whenever I can afford it. If I can't get that, I drink cranberry juice. I don't get juice cocktail, I get juice. I even check the nutritional labels. Normal juice will have a minimal amount of sugar that is naturally occurring.
I guess I'm blessed with good skin. I had a salesperson at the mall try to sell me a bunch of creams to help my skin. I asked her what exactly was wrong with it. She told me I had dark circles under my eyes. I snapped back that when I get better sleep I'll use some tea bags and fix it. She shut right up. xD
On the other spectrum, I have nasty dry skin on my feet. I use a bunch of different items that work for me, including a foot razor thing and a pumice stone. All my lotions come from Bath and Body works. The body butter totally works. I know my skin. I know how to take care of it.
No need for me to add extra oils and crap to my face if I don't have any problems. Don't have to use any chemicals either. If I don't mess with my face and wash my make up off when I do wear it, I avoid most pimples/blemishes.
*shrug*
Just some random thoughts.
