What is Zombie Tag?
Zombie Tag is a survival game of tag, where human players attempt to survive increasingly large numbers of zombies.
Zombies multiply by tagging humans, turning them into zombies. Participants wear a black t-shirt over a white t-shirt. Humans will remove their black shirt and reveal their white shirt when they become zombies.
The objective for survival is to reach all of the safe-zone checkpoints. Winners successfully reach all of the checkpoints, within a defined period of time, without having been turned.
The Rules
The Objective:
Survive!
Day of the Event:
Arrive on the ETSU campus, with ticket in hand, wearing a BLACK T-SHIRT over a WHITE T-SHIRT: YOU ARE HUMAN.
(Forgot your gear? No worries! We’ll have cool Official ETSU & General Shale Natural History Museum ZOMBIE TAG t-shirts available for purchase.)
All participants report to the Festival Area, located at the intersection of John Robert Bell Drive and North Dossett Drive (between the mini dome and the new parking garage)
Check in at the designated Main Event Entrance.
Once inside the playing field, use your MAP and your stealth zombie survival skills to reach all SIX (6) checkpoints. Be sure to collect a token at each checkpoint!
Exit the playing field at the designated Exit with all SIX (6) tokens and be entered to win cool prizes.
Sounds easy enough, right? Except, THERE ARE ZOMBIES!
If you are tagged by a zombie (easily identified by their white t-shirts), you are NO LONGER HUMAN, YOU ARE A ZOMBIE. (Take off your black t-shirt to reveal your white t-shirt underneath and begin tagging humans in the playing field.)
By purchasing a ticket for ZOMBIE TAG you agree to the Terms and Conditions and to follow ALL rules:
All participants will be given a wristband at check-in and should keep their ticket stub on them at all times. (Ticket stubs will be used at the end to enter for prizes.)
Referees will be stationed throughout the playing field to monitor and moderate the game. If any player violates the rules or behaves inappropriately, a referee will escort the player out of the playing field. If a player is ejected, they must forfeit their wristband and ticket stub and will be ineligible to receive any prizes.
All referee decisions are FINAL. Arguing with a referee will result in immediate ejection from the game.
Zombie Tag IS NOT a full-contact sport. Zombies are to tag humans with both hands in order for it to “count.” Participants are not to tackle, bite, grab, push, shove, slap or hit other players.
Absolutely NO WEAPONS of ANY KIND. Players found using a weapon of any sort will be ejected immediately. Further, public safety officers monitoring the event will be notified and criminal charges may apply.
Each checkpoint is surrounded by a clearly marked, “Safe Zone.” Zombies may not tag humans inside the Safe Zone. Other areas within the playing field are marked, “Zombie-Free Zone.” These areas have been designated for safety reasons. Zombies may move through these zones to get to another part of the playing field, but may not tag any humans inside the zone.
We appreciate ETSU for allowing this event to take place on campus. All participants must be respectful of the campus and not cause any harm to facilities or the grounds. Let’s ensure that we can do this again next year!
To allow everyone a chance to participate and make sure the game is safe, humans who have completed all six (6) checkpoints must exit the playing field, via the designated Exit, and return to the festival area. For safety, it may also be necessary to reduce the number of zombies in the playing area periodically throughout the game. Humans or zombies who fail to exit appropriately will be ejected, forfeiting any chance to win cool prizes.
Other Health & Safety Information:
All buildings inside the playing field are off limits. Anyone caught entering a building will be ejected from the game.
Hazards are clearly marked with caution tape and/or fencing. Do not touch, enter, or in any way alter these areas.
Do not touch Emergency Phones. Use of Emergency Phones will end the game for everyone. In the event of an actual emergency, notify a referee or public safety officer who will provide assistance or escort you to the nearest first aid area. First aid is available at all checkpoints.
ETSU has an emergency notification system which sounds an alarm and makes announcements over a loud speaker. In the event of an alarm, all participants will cease game play immediately and follow instructions.
Two Safe Assembly areas have been designated in case of emergency: the D.P. Culp Center and the Mini Dome. In the event that the playing field must be evacuated, report to the nearest Safe Assembly area.
After Party: 10PM at Poor Richards Campus (18+)
