Just what is this intellectual counterculture? How does this endanger the Humanities as an academic pursuit? Why so much rebellion against intellectual conversations, debates and arguments? Why is the act of engaging in such discussions so wrong? I can go on and on with the questions... thing is, what do you think (which I am more concerned with here) is the effect this might have on our so-called, much elusive freedom of speech and expression?

Is the State trying to control our minds? Just as how Apple has claimed intellectual property rights on all our mobile messages...

Do you think this is even possible? Think about it, if our physical brains can be shackled and owned by the State, what dos this tell us about the world we live in?

The media seen by the masses controls more of the ideas people embrace than a rational mind can grasp. If the truth were known about government, there would be a complete loss of belief in society.

Thank you for the response. You know the internet is abound with government conspiracies. What if, the simple truth is, is that there has never any conspiracy, but just society digging its own grave? Have you ever thought about this?

Love clicks judge social intelligence or the validation of being right. People have become more radical in their beliefs. It would seem the days of individuals having a mixed bag of left and right views have gone. What we are finding is people have their foot solidly to the floor on the hard left or running off the road on the hard right shoulder. While some statements are naturally broad with individuals thinking to themselves that is not me; the broader context of the general public it holds true. Sigmund Freud would likely note that that ID has taken over. The id operates on the pleasure principle which is the idea that every wishful impulse should be satisfied immediately, regardless of the consequences."

The search for knowledge and truth is an absolute need. Too many times people blindly follow alon like sheep. Question and study but remember to respect each other’s free will in the process. Knowledge is valuable and to know how how apply it properly is invaluable. Dark knowledge is still valuable and shouldn’t be feared but respected.

The premise is interesting. I believe social media and the mainstream have become a new opiate for the masses (just as organized religion once was). We are bombarded with a 24 hour news cycle that is biased depending on what network one is tuned into. These biases dictate which lens we view the world with and thus directly influence our experiences and expectations on a variety of topics.

I will not go so far as to say that there is an organized push by the state to control our minds. I don't think we've regressed that far (at least in the United States). I will also not endorse the idea of the existence of a deep state ( I am simply not convinced by the conspiracy theorists).

Do you know that the Government can see you from above at any time that they want. My truck doen't use those typical power found today in new cars. Do you know, that if you have any power, ie, Windows, lock etc, that government can pin-point your location at any time. So, I do agree with many, uncle Sam is always watching us.
