Alright sorry about before I really should have gotten more sleep before posting. So a European folklore upir, a vampire species once believed to be real. Do you go by the European legend and believe it to just be a legend? or do believe it to be real?

I repeat my answer from the last thread:
"A former member of this site would have been able to discuss this quite well since he named himself after it.
I am a little rusty on this but unlike hollywood vampires, they could walk around in the daylight, something even traditional folklore vampires couldn't do as they would become inanimate during the day.
Upir is Russian in origin I think. I heard them be described as werewolves as welll, The upir simply has vampiric behavior but may be something else altogether, they were also said to consume their victims hearts and the females would lure people away from their god similar to a succubus.
Other names for it are Opir, Opur, Upier and Upyr."
But as for if its true, well it suffers from the same problem all legends have...that they ARE legends.
That said, there is sometimes a bit of truth to some legends before they became puffed up with exaggeration.
The traditional folklore vampires had some pretty odd issues, namely OCD and the fact the one way to become a vampire was to die as a werewolf, the latter having its own odd requirements for its existence itself.
I am not sure if the Upir had any odd weaknesses, read something about staking and holy water but that seems a bit modern and more in line with European folklore vampires.
i believe it to be a legend in a sense and find them to be the enemy of a werewolf they seem to be more along a dragon in a sense after reviewing some of the photos they have certain similar traits to a vampire yet they still appear to age just a lot slower than a human their really isn't much on the upyr or upir however one wants to call it I have a good idea where i can find more information though ill give you update later
