Hello all, I just wanted to see what everyone thoughts were on the way mentorships are and the fact that once you hit level 80 you have to leave. I don't know about every one but over the years i have been in mentorships and have had great times, made good friends and help see some developed then have it all come to an end because you hit level 80.
I was thinking why cant the mentorship be the same as a house or coven and have no departure level. What do you all think?
It is set up that way to give members who have hit level 80 to start their own Mentorships and to make room for new members of the Mentorship
I think that you should be able to have an options to stay in the mentorship once you hit 80. there is the option to leave when ever one pleases so why not allow them to stay if they choose.
I think the level 80 cap should stay intact so yes what was mentioned before old members that hit 80 can start their own new members can join. By increasing the level in which that said pupils can stay will increase the level you must be to become a mentor. Which new members who hit 80 will no longer be eligable at that level to start their own in turn will have wait until they hit Sire before they can start one I say it remains as is. It is not fair to new members why should they have to wait when older members didn't and also if an older disbands theirs and decides to bring it back or start a new one they would have wait as well to SIre before doing so.
I think its a good idea to have a Cap. Members reaching that level can go off and start there own mentorship, making way for new members. You can always remain friends with the people from your mentorship if you wish.
I don't think that allowing members to stay in their respective mentorships beyond level eighty would increase the level at which members have the option to create their own mentorships. I mean Sires don't have to leave their coven or house once they reach level one hundred, but they have that option; and if they don't leave it doesn't affect the level at which a sire can open a coven (level one hundred). I think if Cancer wanted people to have the option to remain in their mentorships beyond level eighty then he could make that option possible. I don't think the cap or level at which people must leave their mentorship directly correlates to the level at which members become eligible to create their own mentorship, beyond the fact that it's the same level. I honestly think that it's set up this way as just another means through which to differentiate mentorships from houses and covens...such as members below level one hundred being able to leave of their own free will any time they want. I think that maybe since mentorships were intended as a means through which more advanced members to sort of guide the newer members of the site, the reason there is a cap level is because you're supposed to be fully acquainted with the site by that level and you have the option to impart the wisdom you've gained. I'm probably wrong, I can't read the Prince's mind (haha), this is just what makes sense to me personally.
I think there is a power dynamic behind the principle. To change it would be like pulling a thread that unravels a masterpiece of a tapestry. Why not change personal things to achieve the ends you want. Like helping to create a sister mentorship that can help your mentor's burden. If its a matter of aging(leveling) slow then cultivate red penalties and manipulate from your end or just do what I see a lot of start an alternate and reveal who you are so all your prestige is transferred and can add numbers behind your name, then you can maintain your "role" as eternal student. Without the polarities that cause change things become stagnant. To me the nature of change is life and I think most vampire's like to feed from the living in their presence.
Mentorships are a way new members can learn about the site.
If you are a level 80 it is expected that you are within the "know" of how things on this site run and can teach others how they work, as well.
