To be clear, it was not my intention to call Upir a bigot (American usage implying intolerance of another race), rather to say that (I believe) he believes that vampires are a race different from other men in actual ability and characteristic.
I hope that he can realize that I meant no offense, nor was I attempting to discredit his work. I apologize to anyone who thought I was calling him a bigot; I have no opinion on the matter of his view of racial equality in regard to skin colour, nor have I ever been aware of his view on that matter.
If I am wrong in my belief that you view vampires as distinct from other human males, and that the abilities of a vampire are inherent and not learnable (by non vampire males), then I retract that I called you a believer in the existence of race ie a racist, and apologize for this as well.
I apologize for any misunderstanding this may have engendered, and beseech anyone (if any exist) that was convinced by my words, toward a negative opinion of Upir (or that "I"have a negative opinion of Upir), to understand that I respect his scholarly work, and the scholar. Furthermore, I find his work fascinating, and pertinent to this database. I have not the patience or skills to discredit his conclusions, and disagree on a few interpretations based solely on my (layman's) opinion.
I did not mean to imply that his research was based on assumption rather than empirical data; I probably slightly misunderstand the word. I probably should have used unorthodox, unconventional, or untraditional, although none of these words convey what I thought dogmatic meant, which is, "allegiance to authoritative views."
