*A NOTE ON PASSWORDS*
ok...first off, I am a sys admin, MCSE, CCNA, A+, Network+, Security Specialist, etc...not bragging just want you to understand that I know what I am talking about...
Now...
how to make a secure password...
what NOT to do:
birth dates...NEVER USE...
pets gf/bf any names...NEVER USE...
simple words...REALLY...do I have to say it...
what works best:
a pass phrase...example:
use the first letter of each word in the phrase you choose:
My Dog Has Fleas And Needs A Bath
(use a longer phrase)
MDHFANAB
now alternate case:
MdHfAnAb
Mix in some "leet" speak (look it up):
MdHf4n48
now you have a password that is damn near impossible to crack...
hope this helps...
BTW: DO NOT USE THIS PHRASE!!!!
FYI: I am using Kali Linux atm (formally Backtrack)
I hear so many do the 'simple' passwords.
BTW, I did see a story on the news some time back about this. And as it is now, as it was then, a good idea to do this.
