Dracula Spectacula is a spooky musical set in America and Transylvania. The main characters are Nadia Niave and Dracula himself but there are a lot of minor characters involved in the plot, making it ideal to perform with a large drama group. The immaculate Miss Nadia Naive and her three pupils are swung into riotous Transylvanian happenings with the irrepressible Count and his gruesome acolytes. On the side of right are noble Nick Necrophilic, Father O'Stake, the cuddly Hansel and Gretel and the Fuddled Friends; can they prevail over the forces of darkness when these include the creme de la horrible creme such as the Countess Wraith, Genghis the groveling minion, the Zombies, the Fanged Brides and the dynamic sanguineous gentleman the Price of Vampires himself? This play has something for everyone. The humour is often slapstick, usually groan-worthy, but always accessible.
Dracula Spectacula was first performed in 1976. Originally written for young audiences, it is now just as popular with school and adult drama companies. The musical sections are effective but can easily be omitted if no one has the talent for singing or time is short.
