Founded in 1971 by Gary Berman and Adam Malin, two young teenage sci-fi fans in New York, Creation Entertainment continues a 37 year tradition of producing the world's leading conventions for fans of genre television and film.
Inventing the concept of "traveling" fan conventions, Creation has brought its brand of live interactive entertainment events to over three million attendees throughout the United States, Canada and Great Britain.
Under license from Hollywood's major studios, Creation proudly manufactures souvenirs, official fan clubs, and collectibles based on popular sci-fi television series and movies.
In 1991, Creation Entertainment became the very first studio licensee for the production of film "stills" when Paramount Pictures granted the company a landmark agreement for the Star Trek franchise. Working closely with the Viacom Consumer Products team and with the inspiration of one of Creation's earliest patrons, Gene Roddenberry, Creation produced and sold over $12 million of Star Trek t-shirts, hats, mugs, photos and assorted collectibles, all designed by the fans at Creation Entertainment for fans worldwide.
The singular combination of professional marketing and event management coupled with a passion for subject matter made Creation produced fan conventions enormously successful. At the height of Star Trek's popularity Creation Entertainment was organizing up to 110 conventions a year, often running three or more events a weekend.
Creation's success with the Star Trek franchise clearly illustrated to the Hollywood community that genre fans were a valuable market for both publicity and consumer purchases, even long after a series left the air or a film awaited a sequel. Within a few years, every major studio began paying attention to sci-fi fans and their collecting passions.
Parlaying its Star Trek story, Creation developed relationships with most of the top genre franchises often producing "official fan conventions" and/or licensed souvenirs and authorized fan clubs. Along the way, Creation welcomed Star Wars creator George Lucas to its Official Star Wars Convention, Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron to The Official Terminator 2 Convention, Chris Carter to The Official X-Files Convention Tour, and Jack Nicholson to The Fangoria Weekend of Horrors. Over 1,000 top sci-fi celebrities: actors, directors, producers and writers have met their fans at Creation produced events.
The media's interest in the colorful aspects of Creation produced fan conventions often led to the first widespread coverage of a property's growing appeal. With both The X-Files and Xena: Warrior Princess, Creation's involvement garnered early coverage that helped the cult followings of these shows to grow into the tremendous hits they became.
A who's who of genre history including Isaac Asimov, Peter Jackson, Stan Lee, Gene Roddenberry, Ray Bradbury, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Lucy Lawless, Roger Corman, Gillian Anderson, Ron Howard, Robert Wise, Elijah Wood, Jack Kirby, Patrick Stewart, Wes Craven, John Landis, George Romero, Anthony Perkins, Roddy McDowell, and Vincent Price have graced Creation stages throughout the world.
Creation's library of video content taken from its conventions has proven to be a valuable resource for DVD releases. Fans around the world can take part in the excitement of a live convention by purchasing a Creation produced DVD.
Along with being on sale at its conventions, Creation's genre merchandise is also on sale through the website www.creationent.com and available on a wholesale basis to legitimate retailers. Creation also maintains a popular presence on eBAY, auctioning off autographed collectibles gained contractually through celebrity appearances at conventions.
