The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

Tim Burton's upcoming movie adaptation of 1960's TV show Dark Shadows has just landed itself a new screenwriter. Seth Grahame-Smith, best known as the author of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, will take over from John August to adapt the script, with the movie tentatively set for a 2011 theater release.

The big screen adaptation of the show, which ran on the ABC network from 1966 - 1971, will star Burton's BFF Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins — a vampire from English shores. Dark Shadows featured all kinds of supernatural creatures, from the fanged undead to witches and werewolves.

Burton will no doubt put his macabre spin on the gothic show, with Depp providing a stellar — and hopefully somewhat comical — performance, as always. It's never been a better time to make a movie about vampires and werewolves, and with critics convinced Twilight author Stephenie Meyer was inspired by Dark Shadows, we're sure movie execs everywhere are watching this project very closely.
Shooting on the movie begins in January 2011.
