When I click on the picture in the portfolio while in Phantasam layout, there is a red cross in the top right hand corner.
However in the VR Classic Layout, I am unable to click out of the picture or click on any of the links.
I had to click on the browser back button to exit the page.
Attached is the screenshot of a pic in a portfolio. You have the 2 navigation arrows at the bottom, but no red cross to close the pic.
Is this a bug or am I not seeing the close button?

When I duplicate your process, everything works fine. The X is there and the entire screen, except the picture, is dimmed.
I think this is a page caching issue on your end. The PROFILE link in the screen shot does not have a border around it. The Layout Changer drop down menu is not styled. I think your browser is using and older version of the CSS file and the page.
You can try to press F5 and see if that forces a reload. Chrome is finicky sometimes and it doesn't work.
Try another browser. How do Porfolios with VR Classic in Firefox look?
What happens when you press the ESC key? That's a shortcut to close out of all of those types of screens.

I cleared my cache in Google Chrome and it works fine now.
On Firefox the layout keeps running vertically down like some of the other users have mentioned. But in Google Chrome is fine. :)

In Firefox, click Help / About. What is the version number? Mine is 53.0.2.
When I view these pages in VR Classic with Firefox they are the same as in Chrome. Everything expands left-to-right to fill available space.
Many areas of VR now use something called "flexbox". This is newer, but not very new web code. It's been around a couple of years and has wide browser support.
However, if you're using an older browser... old enough, it may not have flexbox support, which would cause odd display issues.
