I plan on posting things I've written. Might use this more than vr journal oh wait I don't even have a vr journal.
Here is an Essay I wrote for a World Religion Class. For the Essay I had to create a "Myth"
This is a Myth about faith. The relationship between a, believer and follower of a once forgotten Deity. The most common ritual is known as an incantation. Symbols or talismans have always varied usually a parchment or a tablet, even a ring or other jewelry artifact. However there is always an epitaph. The reason for the epitaph is simple, as with all forgotten myths or legends it is a means of remembering what was once forgotten or lost.
Alara Dark Moon & The Dark Goddess of Night
Alara Dark Moon lived in a small town just outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Born in the year 1982 she grew up living a normal life, she went to school and graduated from college. But even as a child Alara knew she was slightly different from the other children. She seemed to know that with the tides of time there would be eminent acts of terror by Middle Eastern Zealots. Alara did not know exactly what to do, however she had faith that something could be done. So she began her quest to find answers. She started by studying Middle Eastern cultures and traditions. To no avail she continued her search. She was reading one night in the local library, where she came across an old pagan book of deities. Searching for a link in the ancient texts, because she figured if any past religious wars were waged the pagans had been part of them. She came across no particular tales of war, just as she was giving up hope, she came across an invocation to the Dark Goddess of Night. The Goddess must have had some kind control over people who waged war in her name as. Alara remembered learning in History class that many if not all wars were fought in the name of religion. She continued reading about the Goddess when she found, the following invocation.
“Legend be told There will come a time when a commoner will be called upon to smite, the evil from darkness. She will resurrect a new hope and faith in a Goddess once long ago forgotten. An Epitaph with the following words shall bring fourth the Dark Goddess of Night.
Listen to the words of the Dark Goddess of Night, who was of old
Called once by the name of Lunara.
I am the shadow: in the bright day, I am the reminder
of mortality at the height of living. I am the
Never ending veil of Night where the Star Goddess
Dances. I am the Death that must be so that Life may
Continue, for behold, Life is immortal because the
living must die.
I am the strength that protects, that limits. I am the
Power that says No, No Further, and That Is Enough. I
Am the things that may not be spoken of, and I am the
laughter at the edge of Death.
Come with me into the warm enfolding dark, feel my
Caresses in the hands, in the mouth, in the body of
One you love, and be transformed.
Gather in the moonless night and speak in unknown
tongues. The Dark Mother and I will listen. Sing to us
and cry out and the Power will be yours to unfold.
Blow me a kiss when the sky is dark, and I will smile,
but no kiss returns, for my kiss is the final one for
all mortal flesh. Embrace me for there is no fear my smiting vengeance,
protect thee.
I am the Mother Dark Goddess of Night.”
Alara knew after reading the invocation, that there might not be any other options. She thought to herself could it be possible that this once forgotten Goddess help us in our time of need? As well will this bring over from the old world a once long ago shun down upon religious view, that may regain a new following and faith here in the new world: Or will it bring back trials of old such as the Salem Witch Trials? Regardless of the consequences she knew she had to try as terrorist acts kept escalating with each passing day. Besides what is in the harm of trying, she convinced herself.
After making arrangements, she set fourth to continue her quest in Europe. Arriving in Ireland Alara was searching through an old castle on the northern coast of Ireland: where she came across a, stonewall with the invocation carved into it. At this moment she knew what she had read back in the library had to be real and valid. She took a piece of wax paper from her satchel; she placed it over the carving on the wall and began to trace it. When she finished her work on the wall carving a sensation of calm and serenity came over her. She knew at this moment that it was only a matter of time before everything would be right in the world again. Alara continued her search because she knew the invocation, was only part of the ritual. About 30 kilometers west of the castle she found a cave that had rune carvings on the walls. She began searching the cave and inside buried in a pile of old human remains she found a scroll: As she was reading the scroll she realized it was the ceremonial ritual and list of items needed to perform the invocation.
Once Alara was back home in Massachusetts, she began making preparations to perform the ritual. She gathered all the necessary material and ingredients. Now all she had to do was wait for: The New Moon Phase. Because according to all her studying the ritual had to be done on a moonless night. The New Moon was only a week away though, so she did not have to wait long. She decided to take the following week to find the perfect location for the ceremony. She found a clearing in the woods by her house oddly from the lay out of the land the location was in the shape of a crescent moon. She thought it could get no more perfect than this.
Now that everything was in place, all she needed was six friends. For the ritual to work there had to be six participants in total plus the priestess who was Alara. Once she had six willing friends, she told them the night and time to meet her at the location. One of the friends happened to be of Middle Eastern decent; Alara knew this as the scroll entailed one of the members must be of thy enemies’ lineage. Of course Alara did not tell her friends this.
Once everyone was gathered and everything: in place they began the ritual following the scrolls instructions step by step. Finally ending in everyone chanting the incantation.
“Legend be told There will come a time when a commoner will be called upon to smite, the evil from darkness. She will resurrect a new hope and faith in a Goddess once long ago forgotten. An Epitaph with the following words shall bring fourth the Dark Goddess of Night.

They all sat around the fire for several minutes, thinking the ritual had failed. When suddenly there was a bright light in the sky, it was slowly falling to the ground. Within seconds there standing before them was an ethereal being. She spoke and said, “Which of you summoned me for I am the Dark Mother Goddess” Alara stepped forward and said My Dark Mother I have summoned you: for we are in a time of war and it seems to be with out end. We seek your guidance for piece and a way to end this war. Dark Mother over time I know we have put you in the back of our minds yet we few have believed in you still and know you can bring us hope and faith in this time of need. The Dark Mother placed a hand on Alara and said “ thank you child for I know your intentions and faith are pure, therefore I will help thee” Alara nodded. Now bring fourth thy enemy place them at my feet then walk away. Alara’s friends all looked at one another wondering where they would find their enemy, not knowing one of them was a descendant of the enemy. But Alara knew she took her friend John by the hand and said, “ sorry for this John but you are of Middle Eastern Lineage and we need you to make this sacrifice in the name of piece and for the greater good.” John hesitated but went fourth willingly because he knew for it to work he had to go of his own free will. As he kneeled at the feet of the Dark Mother the rest of the group, walked away as they were instructed. The only one who stayed with him was Alara. With a mighty sword the Dark Mother beheaded John, then she said “A time of sacrifice is always needed in order for peace to follow in time peace shall return to the realm, thank you for never forgetting me my child.” Then in a bright flicker of light all was calm and dark again aside from the stars in the sky.
Several weeks later the war was pronounced over and piece came to the world. Alara set fourth on her next quest to remind the world of the Dark Mother. Reminding everyone that no matter how tough things can get as long as you have faith and hope in the powers above. Everything will eventually work out for the best. This is the story of Alara Dark Moon and The Dark Goddess of Night.
