Let me talk you about a tradition from my land: the healer women (curanderas), a type of shaman woman, nowadays rare to find and, who knows, disappearing.
Every little town had its Healer and, in past times, they were loved by comunity because these women really worked for people haeling illness or psicological / spiritual problems. A whole life dedicated to study of traditions, herbs, forest and ancient recipes gave them the habilities to handle with.
The modern official medicine and, of course, legal regulations, has made them not to act or, at least, work in secret. However, they know how to heal some illness forgotten by official medicine.
Curanderas have been well studied by antropologists and in many cases, they say that curanderas were real witches, not only for practicing ocultism but also for having an open mind, very different to the herd mentality of rest of people, specially in Middle Ages, but today too.

Well witches are those that practice witchcraft.
You don’t call yourself a witch unless you do so because you can still do healing without being a witch. Vampires can do the same. Humans with gifts can do it. Labels are just that.
